Was a long term investor - but got out at .27p last year and made a reasonable return. Many were posting that they 'smelled diamonds' 18 months ago - but I was unconvinced and got out. AP has fuelled us with hope - and on one occasion there was a deal about to be struck in ZIM. You will recall postings that an EPO was on the table. It was "imminent". Then slightly delayed because not everyone was in Zimbabwe at the same time (or that their pens had run out of ink, or that they had urgent haircuts, or had to take the dog for a walk , or....) . That was way back in 2019. Constant promises and hyperbole. I still keep a watchful eye on this stock for old-times- sake, but so glad that I got out when I did. Naturally all my own honest opinions, DYOR and good luck !
I think that usual share-buyer due diligence is out of the window on the reported promise of a viable vaccine. To invest in AZN upon this press speculation on a falls into the 'fog of war' category.
During the fast evolving global pandemic, hopes of a cure are variously raised and dashed. The truth is probably somewhere in between.
A friend of mine who works in the NHS has heard a whisper that the Oxford University / Astrazeneca vaccine 'works' and is this week being 'mobilised' across the NHS to inoculate front line staff as soon as 1st December. We also hear in the press that the UK Government has put in an advance purchase option of 100 million doses and that the USA has put in an advance order of 400 million doses from Astrazeneca. Donald Trump's senior Public Health Advisor suggests (possibly referring to AZN) that a viable safe vaccine will be available by December (I temper this with the fact that the said Mr Trump is up for re-election next week). I've also heard from my friend in the NHS that the plan is to deliver 2 'jabs' to each recipient over a month (a bit like many children's vaccines or holiday vaccines). This may explain the very high number of vaccine doses allegedly pre-ordered by UK & US governments, compared with their respective populations.
But - to bring us back to Earth with a bump - we hear today that people previously (naturally) infected with C-19, lose antibodies - and thereby any acquired immunity very rapidly after recovery from the illness, which calls into query the effectiveness of any vaccine.
Whilst I am the eternal optimist, I think that the science is far too embryonic and uncertain upon which to make a rational investment decision for AZN stock based upon a reported 'breakthrough" vaccine. Views are purely my mine, as a private investor from my own research.
Did the same as you Charlie. Sold this morning and re-invested the £20k in Metrobank - which did very nicely for me. A good day in lockdown ! Good luck everyone.
Sold my entire holding (just over 8,000,000) and made a reasonable return, having averaged down with 'top-ups' over the past year. Would have stayed on the roller-coaster a bit longer - but the article about Zimbawean Government dumping Vast, was enough to tip my reasoning to sell on the rise early today and put it in Metrobank, which seems to have paid-off.
Will keep an eye on this stock with interest.
Good luck everyone.
Not sure if this article has been posted previously - but makes an interesting read - set against the frantic activity of yesterday's buys and the upward trend developing https://www.hl.co.uk/shares/stock-market-news/aim-and-small-cap-news/aim-bulletin/archive/vast-resources-responds-to-zimbabwe-press-speculation
Totally agree. I've been with Vast for over a year - through all the ups and downs. 1p before year end provided both Romania and Zim show sustained progress and growing production. An RNS confirming a much awaited EPO coupled with an RNS with further positive analysis of mineral (and dare I say 'diamond') yields would make me a very happy chappie. Oddly, we haven't heard from Sonic today...………………..
Yup the 2 RNS's are PME's - just checked on the Vast Resources News page https://www.vastplc.com/news/
Totally agree. I've topped-up too. Movement this morning in gold mining sector (my Altyn shares did well). Hopefully some equally good news for Vast, its EPO eventually being signed-off by the Zimbabwean Government and ……..diamonds !
Definitely agree that Altyn is a great investment for the short to medium term, with 2p achievable by early spring and 1p by the middle of next week. I've been holding for a while and am already showing a good return.
