The trading plan that didn't work on Wednesday was to sell itv. I sold them this afternoon and got slightly more than I would have got on Wednesday afternoon but missed out on buying some more kaz late on Wednesday and, of course, it rocketed on Thursday so yes feeling pretty aggrieved . I decided that if I don't watch much telly these days then maybe I'm not alone and there was a Motley Fool article with a guy saying he had stopped watching telly when his second child arrived which struck a chord with me. I knew they had gone up a lot in recent times before I bought them on Wednesday morning but hadn't realised just how meteoric the rise had been. There was a poster on the bb today saying to folk if you want to ask a question just fire ahead and there will usually be somebody about to answer lol. My question and another poster's on Wednesday had gone unanswered lol. Besides, that hottentot guy who does all the reporting/cliping of posts and posters seems to be in there and doesn't seem to be much of a hot shot from what I've seen anyway. The old Leeds Permanent Building Society sold me a Norwich Union "low cost endowment mortgage". The premiums were low for two years and then the normal rate for another 25 years. Gerry is dissimilar to you in that he is backing two supermarkets whose share prices have taken a tumble. There are some posters even hold shares in three supermarkets and my logic tells me they cannot all be winners and, in fact, it reminds me of the days when posters on these bbs were backing both hmv and gmg at the same time - both companies are still around on the retail scene but in very slimmed down form and they are no longer plcs so you'll understand where I'm coming from if I say I am not buying any of the supermarkets at the moment. With regard to your previous work experience in the insurance sector, it may or may not be of assistance to you with regard to making investments. I think hickfromthesticks was in insurance as well. The truth is that on these bbs that we are interacting with individuals who can make all sorts of claims (no pun intended) and then vanish into the ether. There's a bit of dubiety about gerry for instance. One poster keeps portraying him as a long-term personal investor who likes to hold stuff long-term for divis and/or capital gain. gerry has never corrected this depiction of him. My own perception of gerry based on what he's said is that he has attended conference calls, moves about the same bbs as a small circle of posters and does a bit of short-term trading as well as long-termi investing. I am not in any line of business which gets me an invitation to presentations for analysts. I hold a small amount of rsa which cost me nothing as they were freebies from the recent volatility here. Gerry - there was nobody on this bb painting a rosy picture or dishing out constant buy recommendations in the face of the facts about the tough time this company is facing unlike on the bbs of the supermarket shares which you are holding. There has been lots of negative comment though on here from non-holders (as you pointed out) like yourself which does lead people to ask why are non-holders wasting their time and energy here. One poster in particular seems to expend an incredible amount of negative energy exclusively on this bb which I find mind blowing. It's perhaps stuff like this that led Paul Stomach to comment yesterday that this was one of the most depressing bbs he has read. You're going on about how much the share price fell over the past few days without mentioning about how much it went up in the same time frame! The company did a pretty honest job in its rns release yesterday and that's worth reading and following the progress or otherwise of the measures being taken to address current problems will be interesting but not one for non holders to obsess over I would have thought.

I was looking out for garyn on the kaz bb today so that I could join in with all the boasting the men were doing and say I told you the results day would see this up. Why is it men rush onto the bbs when their shares rise dramatically to chat and brag to their "mates" whereas the first thing women do is check out their bank balance and head down the shops to do a bit of spending. Well it's the same broker who wouldn't accept a sell order for some unknown reason one Friday afternoon before the Ayr gold cup weekend in September 2009 when I wanted to sell half my then rbs at 58p plus pre consolidation. On the Ayrshire holiday Monday the share price held up for the first half hour as I watched on (ceefax or oracle in a McKeever hotel in Gretna - remember any of them) before sliding dramatically for about the next six months I think. I had to listen to all the bb posters telling me the government were going for full nationalisation and investors would lose the lot before I got nearly 59p for the shares at the end of April 2010 - the dizzy heights of which have never been seen since even post consolidation. Opportunity cost I learned about at the lse - and I don't mean the London School of Economics. I've already been compensated by the Ombudsman re. this lot in their handling of credit cards for the deceased. I've another couple of "little" complaints on the go with a couple of different bodies. I don't know why I bother really as it's so time consuming and time is money but it's the principle of the matter isn't it. lol. I should have been elsewhere half an hour ago. I joined rsa for the scrip divi and the takeover and now I'm in it for the rights issue. Going to change my broker. I definitely set a trading plan yesterday and they appear to have no record of it. I got home about 4.20pm and would have had time to execute the trade myself but leisurely strolled over to the teapot. Not been too costly so far in terms of the share in question where I had guessed the high point exactly and wanted to sell yesterday but the opportunity cost elsewhere has been high. Not the first time either something like this has happened to me with this broker. Bad moon rising.

Allo Russell, cup news - results out in April in closed period. I'm back from my holidays in February too though shorter than yours. Schools here used to give a clear 5 school days off with at least one weekend attached. Now it's four school days, making it difficult but not impossible to arrange a break away. February's traditionally been a costly month for me in terms of shares. I won a holiday near the ski slopes of Glenshee in February 2011 - no internet access so sold pfd shares at a small profit before I went only for their results that year to propel the share price to infinity and beyond. This year, I had internet access but wanted to enjoy the holiday so set a few trading plans which were profitable but not quite as much if I had been around in person to monitor a few things so yes I'm very human and fragile like your goodself.
