RE: Environmental Destruction12 May 2025 08:57
very short term opinion here. i grew up in cornwall the place is littered with holes, mining effluent, dead rivers and environmental destruction. my village had piles of ****nic all over the place - they separated the tin and ****nic from the elvan dykes and left the baked ****nic in huge piles once it had been removed in the calcinators - they sit there barren, next to the kids play areas, we used to ride our bikes there - to this day folks dont realise how toxic it is. many of the folks i hung out with have all manner of blood and cancer issues in later life and more than a handful died very young - i cant prove this, but the amount of folks with heath issues from where i grew up is startling (and according to me) almost certainly linked to mining waste. this is still a big issue to this very day. nature might cover things in brambles, but the **** left behind doesn’t just disappear. some of it is horribly toxic.
