It’s a terrible and weak argument, vaccinations have to be 2 things; effective and rolled out at pace. It’s all about breaking transmission. If it’s not rolled out fast enough then as immunity doesn’t appear to last forever then you need to start again. It needs to move faster than the spread otherwise it’s like painting the forth road bridge. To answer his deliberately stupid question, yes, demand can be infinite if it becomes endemic and constantly mutates. Therefore, along with it, you need infinite testing to control it on an ongoing basis.

It’s a variation on the missing boat, bless him. He’s trying, but the rate of testing is nowhere near enough currently. There needs to be a huge increase, it’ll need to continue until we know how effective vaccines actually are and once we’re hopefully on top of it, it’ll be needed for venues, borders, airports, outbreaks for quite some time. It’s impossible to know if you have it under control unless you have sufficient mass testing. Conclusion... We’ve not missed a boat yet, but as we’ve seen there’s been a few set sail to Innova loaded with hundreds of millions.

It’s a global challenge. Global immunity requires 70% of people to become immune, that’s based on an R of 3. If the latest strain is more easily spread then it’ll be pretty much impossible to stop via vaccines due to uptake. The other way to stop it is bluntly breaking transmission chains. This staying in the house thing isn’t going so well for the economy. How’s about mass screening, that might work. Probably best to continue to test at borders as it’s a global issue.

Yes testing has barely been mentioned apart from the roll out in to schools and the use of testing to clear the backlog at the border. Barely a peep other than two major headlines. If you have symptoms you should get a test. They don't mention it daily as why would they? If they get their hands on a high performing sovereign test I'll bet they'll give it some fanfare. I hope you're still regularly washing your hands btw.

I expect they’ll keep going on about vaccines, despite them not being 100% effective and the pace of global roll out will mean that we’ll still be wearing masks and testing this time next year. Depressing thought, but more believable than Bojo saying we’ll all be fine by spring. Meanwhile, the oncology side of the business will come to the fore. I can see the current share price being fully underpinned by ava6000 ‘shortly’.

The Covid side will soon be a free hit. They’ve had one go with dribble and failed, BAMS looks a winner and here’s hoping the LFD outperforms the competition. If it does, they’ll sell all they can make and I dearly hope WaffAl sticks with the ambition of getting Asia Pacific manufacturing. It’s currently out of control, Matt Handjob said it himself and there will be future mutations to come. We’re nowhere near mass screening, nowhere near knowing how effective vaccines are and therefore nowhere near getting it under control. Mass testing is needed globally for some time. Fully agree with Oke. I don't think anything in that press release was a particular surprise, the only people suggesting they were lining themselves up with the UK govt were the tedious trolls from another board that shouldn't be mentioned. They'll end up with a product that will be of benefit to the same extent the Innova test has been i.e. it will help get some rapid tests out there for screening especially in 3rd world countries where access to testing is poor.

As for the early release of data, I suspect the reason we haven't seen the same from LSTM was because they looked at the saliva version and the numbers were rubbish. Here's hoping happy Al has a very good reason to be full of xmas cheer for the AN version.

The simpler method of getting an AN sample hopefully removes concerns over consistency. After that it comes down to performance. There’s still no perfectly defined link between viral load and infectiousness so it comes down to the level of detection. There’s not much concern about PCR handing out positive results for people that aren’t infectious so the greater CT range that can be covered the better. That way you’ve got the UK and the US covered for the future.
