I'm not sure if it's been a shrewd commercial determination to aim for the at home market as that's the biggest prize or the stubborn academic joy of proving the ability of affimers by targeting the most difficult test to develop (ultimately beneficial commercially too). WaffAl said he wouldn't do it if he didn't think it was possible. We might find out one day. We've no clue what has been happening behind the scenes. My guess is the switch to AN sampling wasn't directed by govt conversations but just a failure with saliva outside the lab. The best commercial approach would have clearly been to have developed the AN version whilst continuing to faff about with saliva rather than the reverse. There are a billion reasons in Innova's bank account why that's true. But hey ho, that's hindsight for you and WaffAl isn't the all seeing all knowing Global so who cares?

They’re still using Innova tests as they’ve still got millions of them left, they were planning on using them for schools. The plan (ha! Like there’s a plan...) will be to use the Innova tests on whatever madcap scheme that makes it look like they’re doing something until a genuine game changer turns up that can be used for a genuine moonshot scheme. It needs to be high performing and easy to use at home. There’s a waffly man that reckons we’ve got one. Is it us?

Ultimately, nothing has changed, until WaffAl whips a test from his gouter it’s not us. When we’ve got one and if it’s any good then they’ll snap them up. That ******* cat remains in the box.

Bottom line is the U.K. govt severely botched their response. They’ve not treated it like an emergency. They’ve still got scientists telling them they’re the lockdown is not severe enough. They continue to take half arsed measures and then blame the public for not complying. Their latest solution is a new poster campaign. It’s out of control due to incompetence in govt, nothing more, nothing less and there can be no denying it due to the cold hard numbers of deaths compared to other nations.
