The reason it’s currently being rolled out in stages (certain cities, schools, now some employers) is due to a lack of supply and the lack of a test that can be reliably done at home. Operation moonshot and frequent at home testing was the ambition and once they have the capability, they’ll do it. Other nations will follow suit. China already do it, any outbreak is followed by a swift full lockdown and mass testing, it’s very effective. The demand for a rapid at home test is absolutely huge.

Based on timescales I’d say no, mologic’s test was in development long before the tie up with the aptamer group was mentioned. I’m guessing in the same way Awacta worked with Cytiva and then engaged BBI they’ve done similar but started working with Mologic. I’m not convinced by the aptamer groups reagents, they had a brief flirtation with paraytec who decided they would go their own way and why would dvrg do a subsequent deal with Awacta if they were any good. Gerry at dvrg has never been drawn on revealing their findings, but I wouldn’t be shocked if they ended up only using affimers.

Each to their own, I think they’ve done well to stick near the IPO price, but I understand why you’d want to ramp it on here to help your investment. Their business prior to the IPO doesn’t look that good. There’s maybe a short trade based on people buying this hype. It’s not like me to stick up for ODX, but they are an established business that’s beyond manufacturing so there’s a reason they’re valued higher. The £75m contract is for the consortium but is worthless anyway, it’s not an order, it’s for pointless antibody tests and we all know they’re not ordering any. All the capacity of both will be for antigen tests and to be fair, they’ll make some money there, however, the biggest margins will be for Awacta.
