There has been a similar reaction to the suggested mass roll out due to the language of ‘ready, test, go’. Well, I thought it was interesting, particularly how much control is contained within it due to them using govt kit. If everyone is using the same standard kit in manufacturing, I’m sure this framework gives the govt the flexibility to instruct them to use different reagents and if not, to bin the contract and put a new one in place. As you’ve said, I’d expect similar versions of this to turn up for other companies once announcements are made on the game changer

Some light reading... few things I noted:

- Contract is for 2 years
- they will use govt manufacturing gear
- no indication of initial volume or ongoing volume
- no indication of order value
- Strict confidentiality clauses
- All based on TPP we’ve seen before

Great thread, Deeks could learn a lot. He’s already been schooled by Mina, but clearly needs more education. I’m not sure what he expects, there are pros and cons of all testing methods, but breaking transmission has to be top of the wishlist and that’s achieved by regular rapid testing. If the viral loads are too low one day, they’ll be higher the next and will be picked up then. It has to be better than not knowing, spreading the virus before eventually getting a PCR test and waiting for a result.
