I know the SP has reacted bizarrely today but it simply has to get shaken out over the forthcoming days...this isnt AIM. there is no chance that as the ex-divi date draws closer people will not look at the 34.4p divi and the current SP and go 'I'll have some of that thanks". I expect this to get back past the previous high range of 629 or whatever it was very quickly. Bit of PR in the next week, few brokers tips, some articles about safe havens for dividend income and the money will come back.

You do wonder what on earth happened this morning? Stellar results, chunky dividend payment plus commitment to it again next year, great order book.........and we get a 3.5% drop!! I topped up this morning - 1,500 @ 602.5p = £9,100. Cheap cheap.

Definitely so. At 25p (could be more when they announce it) it will be 4% at current SP levels.

It's a fair question dotlink. There will certainly be some people who used HTB to just buy a bigger house than they could really afford, hoping for improved circumstances in the prevailing 5 years. Any buyer caught out by this will either struggle to pay back their loan (although it starts low in year 1 and increases over time) or will sell to downsize (highly unlikely unless its an extreme case). Suppose they will just have to trim other things from their budgets. Maybe reduce to 2 holidays a year and 1 Mercedes on finance.... Given these arent buyers at the very bottom of the market there will be means to do it. I cant see the repaying of loans will have any bearing on the wider market. Trump firing rockets across the pond (or vice versa) are bigger factors. There is no doubt though that HTB has been a major supporting to the new build industry (i work in it).

I suspect so. It's been bobbing between 606 and 620 but as we get ever closer to the results 8th Sept it will undoubtedly strengthen. Very little doubt the results will be anything other than stellar. Hopefully they will also confirm the additional divi at the same time (due to be paid Oct-ish) so i wouldn't hang around too long trying to trim a few pence off your entry point personally...

I cant quite work out if this is a good thing or a bad thing but note the SP is down 4% on the news? So we've sold off a part of the business which was profitable, but not massively so for a chunk of receipt. It feels like small fry really. Any views?

Not quite. I'm still here. Not a single share bought or sold since the 4th. Eeerily quiet. So under water it just doesnt make any sense for me to sell. Might as well keep hold in the hope it comes good in the end. how much light is there at the end of the tunnel?

Read on the BDEV website £175m to be distributed to shareholders. I just sold PSN today and put it in here for that reason. Been in and out of here for a while, its performed really well and the Barratts team know what they are doing. Safe pair of hands.
