I may be wrong, but isn't there a flaw in this strategy? It's all very well saying that manufacturers must make plastic that is recyclable, but it that plastic is used for something that causes it to become contaminated such as wrapping food or a bottle containing oil, and many other such uses, then the plastic is no longer recyclable.
Presumably this was the main problem with the shipping of plastic to the Far East to be recycled, that much of it was contaminated and couldn't be recycled, which is why they (quite rightly) started returning it back to the UK.
