@NoEasy: I agree, I don't expect the rig to start moving until after the Pacific Valour arrives tomorrow. I believe that as the Pacific Valour says it is heading for the rig (and not the FPSO) it could be bringing out equipment and materials that the rig will require for the Buffalo job, so once that is loaded on board they may start the rig move.

AHTS Skandi Atlantic just left Darwin today, on its way back to the rig, due early hours Tuesday UK time.

That makes a lot of sense to me LedZep. It would certainly explain the delay in getting the site prepared, and also ties in with the recent announcement that Peel's exclusivity option has been extended until February. That indicates that they want to get the planning consent for the other companies before moving ahead with the DMG site.

One of the AHTS vessels, the Skandi Atlantic, is in port at Darwin, so the rig move won't start until she gets back. Another 2 or 3 days at the earliest.

It would appear that the AHTS vessels have stopped running between the rig and Darwin, which would suggest that the current job is complete. (I emphasise "suggest"!). The ships are now standing by, not far from the rig, so perhaps they are just waiting while the rig prepares for the tow. Imminent, I imagine.

The rig's AIS is on. It's the one in the middle. The others are the AHT vessels. They seem to be just hanging around waiting for the rig to get ready to move, assuming that their current job is finished.

I expect the SP will move up upon confirmation of the rig starting to move. Maybe a few days yet.

Hi Holdemorfoldem, Interesting that you actually worked on a jackup for Valaris in the UK! This one, the Valaris 107, is currently in the Timor Sea about half-way between Northern Australia and Timor Lest. It will be moving about 160 NM NNW towards Timor Lest.

saint-t: In addition to the three days for towing the rig we also ought to make provision for another 3 days or so to get the rig into position and anchors out, and for pre-drill preparaton on board, before they start drilling.

Assuming that the rig has now completed the job it was working on, I also reckon they won't start moving it until the Pacific Valour gets back from Darwin (she will be arriving at Darwin in about 2-3 hours from now) so back at the rig perhaps Sunday. Then they will need a day or so to lift the rig's anchors and prepare the tow. These things always take longer than initially expected!

One of the rig's support vessels, the AHTS Go Sirius, is just leaving Darwin and heading back to the Valaris. She ought to arrive at the rig late tomorrow (Tuesday) evening (UK time). If the rig has finished its previous job, which I imagine it must have done by now, then it will probably take another couple of days to get everything ready (load cargo, lift anchors etc.) before they can start moving the rig.

And even if the plastic is covered in sh*t the DMG doesn't care, it will just gasify it anyway!
