The Pacific Valour has just left Darwin and is on her way back to the rig, or to the FPSO Montara.

We're getting a lot of "ghost" images on the map, one AIS image through the satellite system and one through the terrestrial system, so we sometimes see double the number of vessels that are actually there.

JEZZAC, the Swan has arrived near the rig and is now just standing by. The Pacific Valour is on its way to Darwin.

I'm not aware of any f-up by anyone. An over-run by a rig for a few weeks is nothing, and not uncommon.

Well spotted ontarget. The Normand Swan is a supply ship, not a tug, so it could be coming to the rig to back-load cargo from the Jadestone job. And it's very likely that that is what the Pacific Valour is doing as well, now heading to Darwin. So that's a good indication that the Jadestone job is just about finished, and we can expect a hand-over in a few days.

On 30th November, 4 days ago, we were advised that handover was expected within the next two weeks, so I think it's unlikely that Jadestone will have finished with the rig just yet.

I believe it's not uncommon for completion of a job, and hence hand-over of the rig to the next hirer, to take quite a bit longer than initially expected. At the end of the day, it doesn't really matter, the end result will be the same when the drill reaches target depth and the results are published.

That's very possible oiler, and of course an AHTS vessel may very well be used as a supply ship for a number of reasons, e.g if it is on long term hire or if there is a shortage of basic supply ships in that region.

I was just thinking that if the Sirius is currently backloading the last of the materials etc. from the Jadestone job, then she may not need to return directly to the rig but may load up at Darwin with materials and equipment for the Buffalo job and join the rig at the new location. In other words, the rig move may not have to wait for the Sirius to return.

NoEasy: Normally a company won't hire an AHTS to do sappy runs because they are more expensive, but where they need AHTS vessels e.g. to do a rig move, then because these are multi-purpose vessels they will use them for cargo runs while they have them on hire, and while they are waiting to carry out the rig move, as these vessels are at present.

Rumandpoker: MarineTraffic uses a generic term for supply ships and anchor handlers, they call them all "Supply Ships". On the link you give, there is a photo of the Go Sirius in the top left corner. This shows the stern roller which all AHTS vessels have, which is for loading the anchors and chains on board. A supply ship has a rail across the stern.

All three vessels attending the rig are AHTS vessels.

The AHTS Go Sirius has left the rig and is on her way to Darwin. If she is to return to the rig then she will not get back until Wednesday.

Meanwhile, the other two AHTS vessels may take the rig on tow tomorrow, we will just have to wait and see. But it is possible that Jadestone will want one vessel to remain on location to support the FPSO Montara.

I believe that Peel are waiting for approval of the planning application that they submitted in October for the waste management plots, which will be providing the feedstocks for PHE's DMG, with the intention to develop them all together:

The ships are waiting and circling about 3km from the rig. They probably won't do anything until morning AUS time.

The ships are waiting for instructions from the rig, for when the rig is ready to move. We don't know whether Jadestone has finished with the rig yet or not.
