Both the Go Sirius ad the Skandi Atlantic are back in the rig area, but both have yet to go alongside to unload. The Normand Swan is alongside the rig at the moment, and once she leaves then presumably the other two vessels will be able to go alongside.

Assumption - the Jadestone job is just about finished, or perhaps finished, and they are now backloading the last of the materials and equipment from that job. They will no doubt also be loading materials and equipment for the B10 job onto the rig before she moves. Once the cargo shuffling has been done, I would expect the AHTS vessels to get hooked up for the tow. Monday or Tuesday?

Well it depends. A day and a half to get to Darwin, so could be there early Saturday morning. A day to unload and probably load cargo for Buffalo as well, so maybe leave Darwin Saturday evening but might be later. A day and a half back, so arrive at the rig midday Monday. Unload cargo on to the rig Monday evening/night. Ready to start preparing for the tow on Tuesday morning.

That might be a bit of a push.

Actually I'm wrong about that because the Skandi is about a day behind her.

So if all goes well she could be back at the rig in time to unload and start the tow next Wednesday.

The supporting vessels are being kept busy today. The Go Sirius will arrive at Darwin this evening. The Skandi Atlantic is just leaving the rig heading due east so heading for Darwin, and the supply vessel Normand Swan is just leaving Darwin bound for the Valaris.

I expect that they are backloading the last of the materials and equipment from the Jadestone job, and bringing out materials etc. to the rig for the Buffalo job.

Both the Go Sirius and the Skandi Atlantic will have to return to the rig before they can begin the rig move.

Indeed NoEasy, I was surprised they didn't use the common name of "Christmas Tree" in view of the time of year!

HMS, it sits on top of the well head on the sea bed. If you don't know what it is, then Google it, you will even get pictures of it!

One of the AHTS vessels that will be involved in the tow, the Go Sirius, is on its way to Darwin and will arrive there later today. They will have to wait for its return before they can move the rig.

An oil rig plus the supporting vessels will most likely cost over $100k per day. They don't stop for Christmas or New Year, they work shifts and keep going.

I think it's fairly clear that Jadestone encountered some kind of operational problem with the completion of the well. Of course we don't know what the problem is exactly, but the indication of this is that they called in the construction / dive support vessel MMA Vigilant last week. She is still standing by about 5 km from the rig so presumably they haven't sorted it completely yet. When the MM Vigilant leaves the area, that will be an indication that the problem has been resolved and we can then look forward to seeing the start of the rig move.

I'm afraid I've become rather disillusioned with the PHE BoD lately.

WelshJake: I believe it is mainly the import permissions which cannot be granted until the rig is sitting on the border requesting entry.

Indeed Javier, it is not uncommon for unforeseen problems to arise during drilling, work-overs, or completion. And when that happens, the rig has to stay where it is until the problem is resolved, however long it may take.

HMS, how on earth are you unable to understand that this is not the fault of the ADV management? It has absolutely nothing to do with them. Can you not grasp that?

They won't be moving as long as the MMA Vigilant is alongside because she is a work vessel, not a tug. And I see that the supply ship Normand Swan is still hanging around, so they must be waiting to backload materials from the rig, so I don't think we can expect the rig move to start until the MMA Vigilant moves off and the Swan comes alongside to load.
