We may get an RNS from Carnarvan later tonight before the AUS markets open. If they have completed their wire logs over the weekend that is.

Yes it seemed to make sense to me. I don't know how easy it might be for them to amend their plans, but we shall see. And I hope they can get clearance on 1st Feb which isn't very far away now!

Just having another look at this planning application, there are an awful lot of documents attached to it, and a rather long objection regarding the lack of, or inadequacy of, cycle tracks to and within the site. I hope the planning officers can work through it all in time for the next Planning Committee meeting on 1st February.

They are carrying out wireline logging to establish more information about the well. I reckon we might have an RNS from Carnarvon on Sunday night UK time, and from ADV on Monday morning.

Angelis: It was always the case that Carnarvon was going to take the rig away to another location as soon as this job was done, and assuming that they found commercial oil they would leave the wellhead in place with a view to retuning in about 18 months or so to start production. So Carnavan "walking away" at this point is basically what was going to happen anyway, regardless of the volume of the oil down there.

The difference is that Caranarvan have basically said that they are done with Buffalo, so that means that they won't be coming back to it to do any production. But if the well is commercial, albeit at a much smaller level, there is no reason why ADV could not turn it into production with another operating partner, or sell the rights to another operator.

I reckon we'll get some official news from ADV on Monday.

ADV is silent because CVN is still gathering data from the logging, and the JV won't make a final decision going forward until they have had a chance to digest the results from the logging. So ADV can't tell us what they are going to do until that is done.

Of course, regardless of how much oil is found, whether non-commercial or even if it is in commercial quantities, Carnarvon will be taking the rig away to another drilling location, and oil production won't take place for another 18 months or so.

I believe that the PSA (Pressure Swing Adsorption) equipment that would be required as an “add-on” to the DMG for the extraction and purification of hydrogen from the syngas, would cost in the region of £5M, and that was two or three years ago so it may cost a lot more now.

By stopping at the production of syngas stage, the capex is that much less than a configuration that will produce pure 5-nines hydrogen.

Question in my mind is, when they get the logging results, will they remove the wellhead and plug and abandon, or will they leave the well in place, so that they, or someone else, can come back at a later date?

Does anyone have an idea of how long the tests might take?

I reckon we might see something happening in the first week of February if Peel get their planning permissions for plots 9B, 10A, 11 and 12 at the Planning Meeting on 1st February.

Once they get these permissions I reckon things could start moving pretty fast.
