The average hit rate on wildcats is taken to be 1in7(14%). The average cpr cos on wildcats is 25 to 30% ( depends who writes the cpr!) So the outcome chance is about half that of the cpr cos ( this is just the way the industry works!). So at 12%, the real chance is much lower. Not sure about drill costs (water depth and target depth etc) but I would guess $40 to $50m..so the cost to risked return just does not look in anyway attractive.
