RE: Losing shares13 Dec 2023 10:55
I agree with MrMath. I don't believe in paper losses unless my strategy is to hold long term particularly if dividends are part of the equation. This is very much the case with LGEN. I took the decision to reinvest my dividends to help bring down my average and its worked. Even taking into consideration the market's reaction to today's news whereby LGEN has been negatively impacted, I'm still in profit albeit not by much. I guess many have "dogs" myself included due, in no small part, to Brexit, to Covid 29, to Ukraine, to Israel and other headwinds. In time, I believe these impactors will come to pass, and our investments will provide the returns we thought they would when we placed our bets. It's all about your short, medium & long term strategy for each of your holdings. LGEN simply isn't the sort of stock for short term trading so it's probably best to view it as a medium to long term holding and even then, make sure you calculate the high dividends this stock maintains when assessing wether or not it is a performer. Just as a side note, and as a matter of opinion, I do think LGEN is trading on low SP yields and if I wasn't already in large as I am here, it would be on my buy list for absolute surety. Not sure if the above helps or hinders but good luck in any decision you make.
