RE: and all electric buses in UK by 20256 Feb 2020 22:29
Turnpan: Actually, it has heard of both. I read elsewhere that in October 2017, transport secretary Chris Grayling told the transport select committee the government was "looking to get the first hydrogen trains on our network within a very short space of time". And I know there's serious work being done by UK industry on using hydrogen in our gas network, and for other uses in transport.
Though I do get the impression that councils looking at electric buses are assuming lithium batteries at present. E.g. my local County Council which is looking at placing solar arrays at its park-and-ride sites, along with battery operated electric buses. I've just been having a conversation with a councillor suggesting that they look into electricity -> hydrogen -> fuel cell -> electricity as well as electricity -> lithium cells -> electricity.
