RE: Added a little more2 Feb 2021 10:42
This time last year Helge Hammer said they were in advanced discussions on a couple of deals and would be disappointed not to get one over the line in the first 6 months of 2020. He anticipated Longboat being a mid-sized E&P player within 2 years.
Obviously the market turmoil last year didn’t help and maybe changed everybody’s expectations but hopefully as you say now the oil price is a bit more stable, M&A will pick up again.
They must have been in numerous discussions over the past 15 months so you’d hope they would be in a strong position to get something over the line now.
HH did say the first deal is the most important and they need to get off to a good start, and I agree with that. Although it’s been a painful wait I’d rather they get this right than rush into something.
Nice to see a bit of buying this morning - it’s been nothing but sells for a couple of weeks it seems.
