Sign-off's been 'imminent' for ever, one day it might be true!

By and large the buyback has been steady and consistent, doesn't appear they are showing any signs of slowing or accelerating this exercise.

@ sharesaplenty - SP has picked up today, no real reason for that as far as I can see, I doubt whether increased investment via ISA's would have any effect but who knows, often no logic at all to SP falls & rises, just look at IAG on Friday?

Only thing guaranteed - well, assumed to be guaranteed - is that the SP will rise here on concrete positive news i.e. rig, spud, discovery. Anything else is just chaff.

Thanks for the info, yes I am aware these are 2 very different business models and rely on different income streams/running costs, all they have in common is engines - one builds them and fits them to planes and the other flies the planes and has to pay for the fuel & servicing.

But the fortunes of both companies have appeared remarkably similar in recent years and their respective SP charts often mirror each other very closely, hence I was expecting IAG to rise today in line with their positive results and similar to RR's performance yesterday.

But not so, and now much worse than probably most investors could have predicted 24 hours ago.

It's a shocker for sure.

ps. I sold my RR holding yesterday because I thought that had reached its ceiling and bought into IAG expecting that to rise today, so a double-whammy of horrors for me today.

As I said, novice. Oh, and bad luck/poor decisions.

I'm still something of a novice investor but I just don't get how this works?

Yesterday RR reported good results and the SP took off, and continued to rise again this morning, now some 30% up since Wednesday close. That makes sense to me.
Today IAG reported good results - or so it appears - and the SP goes down, about 5% lower than yesterday's close. That doesn't make sense to me.
I've had other shares drop on good news too, even had shares rise on bad news, makes no sense at all.

Is the Stock Market broken???

It may appear odd that LDG are investing in LDG but don't forget who's running the show - DBay.

If LDG is being used as an investment vehicle and those investments perform well then DBay do well too, and like last time I wouldn't be surprised if DBay sell back a chunk of their own holding in LDG during the further buyback when that proceeds and the SP rises, as they hope it will.

They say this is for the benefit of PI's, to narrow the perceived discount to NAV and that may well be true, but DBay are very good at making money - for DBay.

Only time will tell, but for sure the SP falling back may tempt me back in.

Bit of a fright this morning to see the SP dip down to 261.50, what was that about??

3,269,280 bought back to date, average cost 243.0018, total now spent £7,944,410.

14 days of buying back and still have over £67M of the 'up to' £75M they could spend on this exercise.

As of this morning's RNS:

3,151,233 shares bought back, average price paid 241.9892, total cost £7,625,643.

@ PI_Winner - no sorry, I don't have figures for the volume over the same period, tbh I wouldn't even know where to look for that. Guessing that's bad for an investor? Still learning....

Nice to see some action here. I was worried after yesterday's excitement was over that we'd be mired around 0.10 for months until concrete news materialised.
I'm still underwater since Sasanof and need 0.54 just to break even, although I did average down to 0.3 after that by buying 1M shares but then had to sell that million at a small profit because I needed the cash for something else so averaged back up again! A novice mistake I suspect and with hindsight (always right eh? damned hindsight) I wish I hadn't.

C'est la vie, sure it will come good eventually.
