Tom E, Well done. I believe you stated you were over �30k down on 100,000 shares when the SP was �1.46. So at �1.50 you would have recovered �4k + �5k for the dividend still leaves you �21k down? Maybe I have too much time on my hands since retiring ! Still wish I had sold this months ago but nothing else meets my criteria at the moment and I don't like cash stood around doing nothing.

No, Booker supplies a completely different market, mostly small independent stores. They don't make anything, they buy from the same suppliers as the major retailers.

So we should buy any share that hasn't managed to increase it's value in the last 5 years? I struggle to see the logic in this. I think you would end up with a real basket of dogs (including ITV).

It has fallen 15% in the last 3 months. Why do you now expect it to increase by over 30% in the next few days?

I admire your optimism but not sure what it is based on. Price has fallen by more than the dividend so there has been no benefit of holding on for the dividend.

Thanks Tom but still a bit confused. If the SP is 150p today then it will fall to 145p tomorrow and I will receive the 5p dividend at some stage in the future. It is therefore still worth150p, i.e. the dividend makes no difference.

Hi Tom, You mention the dividend of 5.28p. I was under the impression that the dividend makes no difference because, everything else being equal, the share price will fall by 5.28p. Or am I missing something?

Never sell at a loss? Is this one of the biggest mistakes for an investor? I must admit I have fallen in to this trap with ITV much to my regret, probably subconsciously influenced by some of the comments on this board, resulting in a loss of �20k. I currently track 170 shares on a number of metrics and ITV is currently ranked 162, I don't have much confidence in recovering much of my loss.
