BAMPS21, this share was £5 over 10 years ago and then fell to 10p. Must have been a worrying time.

TR, probably wise to cut your losses and move on rather than view the continuing decline as great buying opportunities like some. Not so sure that house-building is the cash cow that some see it as, with cost inflation, the general uncertainty in the market, the requirement for lower margin affordable housing and other onerous requests from local councils.

Tom E, well done with the BMW. Not sure how you managed it with TW being up 4% over the last year and ITV being down 7%.

BASHTARD, I agree 5 years seems a tad too long, personally I hold for 12 months. I was intrigued by TOME's method of buying pre dividend and them selling 6 weeks later. I see no logic why it would work, especially when taking stamp duty / dealing costs into effect. I will try and carry out some research before I start to follow this method.

If my trend analysis supports it then yes. It seems to be a share that is in and out of favour so if it drops significantly again I may well be back in when it starts to recover. As Sage has pointed out with RYA share prices don't always do what is expected based on PE ratios etc. As I get older and start to draw from my SIPP I may move in to more "secure" shares such as BP to rely on the steady income from dividends.

TOME, It was a genuine question, not quite sure why you have to respond with such aggression. It is a strategy I have not come across before and I am genuinely interested if it is successful. If I get the time I will carry out my own research and then act accordingly. Based on your track record I have my doubts but I will let the facts speak for themselves.

RIOLTO1O, sold all my EZJ on Monday and bought PMO. My next sale will be HOC at the end of June, looks like I will suffer a big loss on these.

TOME,DAVIE. Interesting strategy. So the logic is that you would expect the share price to increase in the 6 weeks following the shares going ex dividend. Are then any statistics anywhere that support this theory?

DAYTRADENOVICE, yes I have a strict 12 month rule, after a few trial and errors I find that this is the best time period for my method. In the past I have used my judgement and held on to some shares longer than 12 months but this has usually backfired on me. The trouble I find with buying and selling on a more regular basis is that stamp duty / dealing costs become proportionately much higher and eat in to profits. Having said that I am now retired and might have a dabble at trading shares such as PMO, albeit with small stakes to start off with.

TOME, You state that SPs fall after ex dividend date in most cases. However previously you have recommended buying before ex dividend date. I fail to see the logic in this.

Riolto10, 12 months ago EZJ was top of my list. I am quite rigid with my rules, keep for 12 months and then sell. 2nd time I've been in EZJ, first time I doubled my money so they owe me nothing. Latest investment is PMO, think I may be in for a rocky ride with them, they appear to be very volatile!

Bamps21. A bit of rounding there, I believe it reached �4.89 in March 2007.

NIGE_W, can't really disagree with your comments, however the market is not always rational. I must admit that I would be nervous if 80% of my investments were in one sector but good luck to you. My trend analysis suggests that house builders will under perform in the next 12 months but I do tend to be incorrect 30% of the time !

Sold today after holding for 12 months. Increased by 34%, giving an �8k profit, very happy with that after being down 13% at one point. My momentum analysis suggests that this will slightly under perform over the next 12 months.

The SP is down 6% over the last year and 7% over the last 2 years. I appreciate it pays a decent dividend but is there a reason why the share price has fallen. Also over the last 10 years the share price has fluctuated between 10p and �5 so it still leaves me a tad nervous as an investment prospect.

Thanks TR for your most informative response. TW doesn't really fit my criteria for investing which is based on momentum. However I do part manage an ISA for my father-in-law and normally point him in the direction of FTSE100 companies with good dividends such as BP, AZN etc. He has some dividends he needs to invest so I will suggest TW to him.

At lease TR provides comments with some substance, unlike MACROCK59. I can only see ITV continuing to under perform. Advertising revenue is down 7.5% in the last 2 years, the share price is down a third in the last year and their is a big threat from digital advertisers. I am struggling to find any good news.

TR, not sure if I'm allowed to comment as I don't hold any TW shares. 9.6% dividend seems exceptional. Such high dividends usually put me off as they are often followed by big share price reductions. The old saying, if it sounds too good to be true, then it probably is.
