I would say that receipt of the €65M would have a very positive effect on the sp, because it doesn't just represent about 8p added, but at last the end of the ghastly OM saga, with the sheer relief that must accompany that.

Don't forget there will be at least one deduction of about €2.5M to Zodiac.

It wasn't all that long ago that posters here were suggesting that getting about €50M total from the OM claim would be acceptable, if not good. Hats off to Sam (and the RKH BOD) for turning this around in such a determined and exemplary way, in the face of significant opposition.

If we consider the equally astonishing Labour win in the summer and how they have trashed their credibility in such a short time, they have already lost the authority to run the country, with the best part of 5 years to go to finish their hatchet job.

However, I suppose the good news for us must be the FI looking an increasingly attractive oil/gas region, with plenty of skilled and experienced staff coming available to get it up and running, under a hopefully benign authority in very familiar surroundings.

Definitely JJ - and it looks as though the new port project isn't progressing, without which there isn't going to be the tourist revenue that had been hoped for.

PLUS, the costs entailed in much needed infrastructure in Stanley (and the rest of the FI), not just for the resident population, but also to attract demanding tourists who could be spending during their visits.

When requesting an ISA roll-over for a share with a large spread, rather than make the trades online, I have asked the broker whether they can arrange for the sell/buy prices to be the same, which they have managed to do, although I have had to pay the higher phone trading charge.

All have gone seamlessly, but on one occasion the sp dropped considerably the very day after the roll-over. If I had simply done it all myself online and taken advantage of the sp fall before buying back, I would have been a lot happier, but there you are - you can never be sure.

Just to add to that, what that experienced 'very old man' was looking for was intrinsic business value once the .com euphoria had subsided and he had rightly decided that in most cases there was none.

On 25th November we learned that SL's intrinsic value had increased by 16% without having to lift a finger as well as Navitas publicly stating that their commitment to developing the oil field hadn't diminished, but was increasing.

That's what that 94 year-old very old man was looking for and couldn't find in the majority of .com businesses. One reason was that most people didn't understand what .com was about, whereas a proven gigantic oil field, plus much, much more in the FI region is very well understood, especially at a time when North Sea activity declines, freeing loads of very experienced people, facing unemployment.

The only connection with old men is they have been around long enough to have seen RKH disappoint over and over again, so tend to expect yet another until one day RKH either comes good, or just disappears, as it has nearly done more than once.

As for the 'young men', they lack much experience, so tend to jump in at the slightest rumour for fear of missing out, which these days is amplified by social media - something those very old men don't use or understand.

I'd keep quiet about those very old men, if I were you. I remember watching a 94 year-old stockbroker talking about the .com boom in the early 2000s. He was saying that he couldn't understand the extraordinary euphoria with some of the astonishingly over-valued share prices, where the company in question didn't appear to offer anything of value.

For a very very few of them, he was wrong, but for the majority he was absolutely right and about a week later the collapse began, when many lost their shirts (and more) and I always remember that guy - he was no fool, even if he was 94.

RoI have not only behaved disgracefully regarding OM, but have handled this claim pretty ineptly too. They have signalled to smaller foreign companies not to do oil/gas exploration business in Italy. They will change the rules without warning without any prospect of compensation and then obstruct the claims procedure with impunity.

If I ran a smaller foreign business, without the right contacts in Italy, I wouldn't touch Italy with a barge pole.

The only other Italian RKH issue is the disposal of its remaining assets with Zodiac (RNS 14/10/24), which is another cost, trimming a bit more off the €65M we hope to receive, but then RKH will be free of all those ill-judged encumbrances.

Good find XKR2022 - while this is likely to undermine the RoI's request for annulment and may explain the longer delay than many had hoped, there is no prospect of an increased award. That's already in stone and was rather greater than many had dreamt for. All the numbers are now set in stone, including the value to RKH of the sale of the award, and the insurance premium and payout should annulment be granted.

But annulment isn't going to be granted and this won't have helped RoI's case. They never believed there was the remotest chance of annulment being granted and probably not even a reduced award, although some thought that could be possible, given how big the award is.

The main reason, if not the only reason for requesting annulment was to prolong the misery for RKH, who they hoped might go bust as a result.

Well bad luck to the RoI, even though their country is a fantastic holiday destination and the food is great, but I have been robbed there on more than one occasion, so what RKH has been enduring seems routine stuff.

In my opinion, the RoI behaved disgracefully and deserve all they have got.

The only reason I would be selling at the moment would be to crystallise a capital gain within the current meagre allowance and then transfer the lot into an ISA to ensure all future gains are tax free, hoping that I can achieve the transfer quickly enough not to get burnt. Might even benefit from a brief retracement, but that's probably being greedy.

Trouble is, who runs the show after we have got rid of this bunch?
