I bought into Saga at around 140p and then bailed out at 122p. I don't normally sell shares at a loss and hold onto my "dog shares" until they come good again, but I saw another share at a decent price and bought into that to cancel the SAGA losses within a couple of months.

A bit later I bought back into SAGA at around 110p (silly me!) and it plunged down to below 50p. I then thought about doubling my holding a couple of months ago when it was in the mid 40s to average down but I chickened out and doubled my holding of another share in my portfolio. Since then both SAGA and the other share have risen by roughly 22% so both were a sensible buy at the time . I'm still happy with my original decision and believe the other share will continue to grow at a quicker rate than SAGA over the next 6 months.

I do think SAGA will recover back to 126p but also think it will take a few years to do so. SAGA is a frustrating share as it goes up or down in big bursts and then sits circling at +/- 5% of the new price for months like a rudderless ship. I don't think I'm patient enough to hold SAGA and I finally bailed out at 55p, so lost half my money with my 2nd SAGA investment. I've invested the money in another share that hopefully get me back my initial investment quicker than it will take SAGA to climb back above 110p.

SAGA positives are as Michaelwood47 says - new ocean ships are bigger and have a much better profit margin than the older ships (more efficient on fuel etc). They are also streamlining their insurance business to increase margins. Negative is the new ships are expensive so they have huge loans to pay off.

ggg21 - I'd forgotten about the shorters having to buy back shares to close their positions. I've never shorted a company before and always bought shares of companies I believed in and stayed away from companies that I didn't think would make me money. I've always thought it was bad form to actively bet on a company not performing well!

IMO Being a day trader would be very risky over the coming week and some shorters are going to really have to pay a premium for EUA shares in the next week if there is a limited supply of sellers and an increased demand from buyers!

The number of share transactions has dropped off rapidly from the peak of over 500 million shares per day in the last week of October to about 130 million yesterday. Today there were only 70 million shares changing hands. It looks like reported sells exceeded sells over the past few days.

If we assume there are say 40 million shares that weren't bought up then these could easily sold within the 1st hour or so of trading.

I'm guessing the opening price will be slightly over 3p (say 3.07p). If there is a big demand for these limited shares, the price is likely to climb up a bit. What will the MMs then do once the available shares have been purchased? Will dropping the price back below 3p work to frighten weak shareholders? This probably worked last week but hopefully most PIs holding now will want to keep their shares in anticipation of a possible asset sale. Will raising the price encourage people to sell? There will be traders who will sell to take their 10% -20% or whatever profit they are happy with. There was 1 trader who said they buying at 2.7p and planned on selling at 3p or so. They would then wait for the share price to drop back and repeat the process. This probably worked over the past couple of weeks whilst daily share transactions were between 200-500 million but may not work if there are fewer transactions.

So do MMs have any techniques to keep the transactions happening? If they keep raising the price hoping to hit shareholders limits sell prices to say 4p or 5p and very few shareholders wants to sell then what happens?

Lamtree - maybe they look at your historic posts. You have made many negative posts on the BT.A, SXX and EUA boards. I don't know why you bother doing this when you don't seem to be invested in any of them! You definitely seem to like winding the BT guys up...

minerirritant - I just discovered EUR last week and have just dipped my toe in the water with around £1K at 2.45p. I've mostly stuck with FTSE100 and 250 companies and just have a small percentage in smaller companies and AIM shares. My last AIM share (MTFB) - I thought it was a dead cert but it turned out to be more of a dead duck! :-( I look at AIM shares as more of a gamble than an investment and only put in money I can afford to lose. The information around EUA looks like the company won't be a dead duck - hopefully more like the goose that lays palladium eggs! But time will tell ...

Plenty of millionaires on here - in their imagination?

I initially heard about EUA on the SXX thread (was looking whether buying SXX made sense but decided not to). Now SXX and EUA are at the same price. I bought a small holding in EUA last week at 2.45p. Initial price was 1.5p when I saw EUA but by the time I'd done some research they had hit almost 2.5p. SXX hasn't moved much in the last week or so. It will be interesting to see which share takes off now...

I was in the same position last week, except I had made around 20% profit. I usually try to bank some of my profit after I've made somewhere between 20-25%. I normally sell somewhere between 33% and 100% of the shares depending on how likely further gains could happen. With IAG I ended up selling 34% of the shares at around 22% profit. Decided to keep the rest as there is a reasonable dividend payment coming shortly and their recent acquisition makes sense. I'm hoping the price will be above 600p within 6 months.

I only have a small holding too, as AIM shares carry a greater risk of losing money than FTSE100 shares. My last AIM "investment" seemed like a sure thing, but went BANG instead of BOOM and I'm down over 95%. If EUA hits 13p the profit from this share will cancel out the loss on the previous AIM share.

As always remember shares can go down as well as up - don't invest money you cannot afford and DYOR!

jimjam - if it's hit your target why and you are happy why not sell 50% of your holding to mitigate risk. A profit isn't a profit until you sell. Unless you need the money why cash in now though?

The share is back up above 100p after briefly dipping below 90p and cycling around the mid 90s for over a month.

It looks as if the majority of trades are buys but they are being shown as sells. There is an auto sell of 1 share - what is that about?

Looks like the share price is ready to take off!

The results aren't good that was expected with the pilot strike and computer failure. These were already factored into the recent share pricing. If it dips below 500p today some people could see this as a good buying opportunity again, so don't think it will be sub 500p at close. Still fairly positive on IAG and could see it above 550p by end of year.

Probably not many surprises with the results. The pilot strike and computer failure wiped a big percentage off the share price over the last few months. I just recently bought in as IAG looked great value at 437p. I've now set up a limit sell of 40% of my initial purchase just to lock-in 22%+ profit if 537p threshold is crossed tomorrow.

My original purchase was at around 110p, so this target is just break-even for me. It would be nice not sitting on a (paper) loss again. I had thought about buying some more SAGA shares to average down but bottled out.

I don't have much faith in Peel Hunt price targets. With Luceco they reduced the price target from 120p to 96p although still making the share a buy. LUCE went through the 96p target the same week, although it has fallen back slightly again.

SAGA has sailed passed the 50p mark and hopefully it won't go back into the 40p doldrums again! It will be interesting to see how long it will take SAGA to hit the Peel Hunt target of 110p.

Big drop yesterday was unexpected. I set a limit buy at around 89p to double my holdings but price didn't quite hit the limit. Still have confidence in a bounce in the short term as 2 directors have been buying this month at prices between 80p and 97p.

Sorry, she purchased almost £50K of shares yesterday and today...even more positive!

Looks like the CFO's wife has spent over £12K buying some shares today. This is a positive sign that the share is good value at the current price and will hopefully rise. She paid over the Peel Hunt target price too, so their new target was hit in a couple of days!
