He has no real clue about markets though which is evident in a lot of what he posts.

Back to metro, on the upside the shorts might be reducing a bit more, I'm wary about adding though as I'm increasing market shorts on upcoming US earnings. The lack of any positive RNS and just general lack of market communication for months still concerns me too. The update will be key here - 100% !!!

if the update isn't as bad as I fear I will add to bring my average way down, banks are all oversold on a 12-18 month view.

I worry about the cash burn, I worry about the need to raise more money - take that away and it's a no brainer.

Then the takeover (if and when) is icing on the cake rather than an absolute necessity ?!

the MIU index has gone from 75-90 in 3 months and is now at an all time high..

amers we bailed RBS out at 50p a share old money (pre 10:1 consolidation) they need to go up 400% for us to get our money back. I've been buying but I don't see 400% anytime soon.
The money is being borrowed from us, our children and future generations. It doesn't all need paying back but it needs to remain within manageable tolerances and will be less of a problem/more of a problem based on GDP. It's mainly raised by issuing Gilts which most of us own in our pension funds etc.
We could just go and invade Germany and nick all of their money and we'd solve it overnight - we would probably have to borrow some more upfront to buy the guns and the bullets though.

I totally agree with you amers, he's only interested in the markets and is desperate to be re-elected, his businesses have got their own big problems to solve too.

the US are building up big structural problems that will be really hard to fix once the downturn becomes less corona centric - more and more cheap money which will be increasingly hard to service and repay.

I'm happily still riding the roller coaster back up but I think with earnings season starting next week it's been a bit overdone. Reduced some more longs yesterday and have been increasing and decreasing market shorts on the volatility. We're not out of the woods yet.

Jinny not convinced in truth, I've looked at two big shiny branches locally in Bath and Bristol. Not enough footfall when we weren't locked down ! And I'm definitely not convinced about the safety deposit boxes paying a large % of the branch running costs - a fireproof safe bolted to the wall at home costs less than 1 year of fees and the insurance for my Tiara is pretty cheap if it's locked away in it. Why would anyone want to lock stuff away that they then can't wear and pay big fees for the privelidge ??!

if they break it up where is the overall value - the positives are surely offset by the cr@p business model and the running costs of the rest of it ?!

not a time for takeovers - even when it is again why would you buy metro's model when you could have one of the major players with billions of profits (post corona) for a knockdown price ?

not deramping as each drop costs me a few quid but I'm genuinely worried about the next update - shorts aren't closing for a reason at these levels - if the share price can hold at 90ish for a few days then it could be more bullish though

I'd probably focus on some big structural problems closer to home and wait for things to settle a bit - then if I was still interested I'd pick them up on the cheap because the price I would need to pay would be much lower..

I'm only holding as I don't want to miss out in the unlikely event that there is someone daft enough to want to buy them, I've reduced as I said before and am only holding effectively a punt amount that I'm prepared to lose. It's the only bank I didn't add to though as the business case is shocking in the current climate..

so many more opportunities in other shares and funds, reduced all my longs this morning except Reabold and increased my Dax short - after the recent strong rally I think it will be a traders market for a few days/even weeks now..

Pander Lloy - yes the others probably - hard to pick a financial that wont go up - even Metro probably. RBS and barclays will do well over 12-18 months but eggs in baskets is the issue..

Amers, I don’t normally crossdress or punt on shares but RBD worth a look with some lunch money. I mentioned them a couple of weeks ago and added some more today.
