but buying shares then loaning them out to be shorted as part of a bigger plan - not saying it isn't happening here but there are a lot of square theories being made to fit in to round holes to fulfil a narrative on this board

Response to Press Speculation

15 June 2020: Metro Bank PLC (the "Company") notes the recent press speculation regarding a potential acquisition of Retail Money Market LTD and its subsidiaries ("RateSetter"). The Company regularly assesses various opportunities in the market and accordingly confirms that it has entered in to a period of exclusivity with RateSetter, but discussions regarding the potential acquisition are at an early stage.

RateSetter is a UK focused peer-to-peer lender whose distribution platform could accelerate the Company's stated strategy to grow its unsecured consumer lending book.

There can be no certainty at this stage that a formal agreement will be reached, nor as to the terms of any agreement. A further announcement will be made if and when appropriate.

definitely a reason for optimism as it means getting on the front foot, if that's because of other things in play then good, if it's due to confidence in delivering on a new strategy and starting to turn things around then thats good too..

markets will need to find support, and it's metro so lets not turn the gas on yet

- not at all convinced that this is part of a conspiracy to keep the share price within a range to benefit others - it's probably the usual opportunity trade to make money on perceived weakness and the inability to follow through on the recent rise
- partly metro, partly broader market macro which I eluded to at the beginning of the week at 6500+ and again today

these weren't in my buy and keep pot (not that anyone asked, not that anyone gave a t055) so I sold half at 114 because I just couldn't see it pushing on and was convinced it would retrace. I kept half because the non logical side of me still thinks there is something happening here.

Time will tell whether experience and common sense or just pure gut feel is right on this..

after breaking through FTSE fibonacci support yesterday, there is no need for shorts to panic.

Metro may or may not be a different play but we need to get above 6153 for the recent bullish trend to continue - otherwise we're swimming against the tide.

Happy either way as there is plenty of value here and elsewhere - once the day traders get bored and the big pocket investors recognise it and rotate back in.

I'm building a keeping pot and day trading a volatility pot, no straight lines on lots of stuff until we get a vaccine..
