NigeCo, I'm not sure why you think Drahi wants OR, BT Group own the network, OR are the division tasked with maintaining and growing it, FTTH etc. Buying OR would just give him access to a pool of engineers, planners and designers but no assets.
NigeCo, what would he gain ? Openreach administer the network in a fair and equitable manner so as as not to give preference to any Wholesaler. BT did that deliberately to satisfy the Regulator and keep the Company within the Group. That says to me they are determined to keep it. So, an organisation that doesn't own the network and was changed in order to ensure it stayed within the Group. Doesn't look particularly appealing to me.
'BT shouldn't be in the business of sports' They're not. They're in the business of broadcasting Sport which is completely different. The build of a network to broadcast popular sporting activities brings revenue, recognition (brand), and spin off services that domestic customers can enjoy.
Cashing out to wait for next scheme is no longer an option. The rules got changed , I'm not sure whether by BT or an HMRC rule across the board but, if you cash out you can't reinvest that monthly sum on any other scheme until the old scheme matures.
NigeCo and all those of you pining for the sale of Openreach. You are going to be sorely disappointed. Openreach is central to BT’s whole strategy, costs have been reduced and potential partnerships dismissed as BT head down ploughs forward with it’s strategy. Remember this is a mid / long term strategy that will lay great foundations for growth. Unfortunately that doesn’t sit well in this market with it’s current short term view.

Are you sure that today's rise was only down to the licence purchases? It was such a large leap I can't help but think the Ofcom news is known, or least best guessed at and that was taken into consideration today. Only have to wait until tomorrow to find out.
Seems as if BT is fighting back, and trying to make people aware of the massive contribution it makes to the economy;

The Ofcom decision around the fibre pricing cap has resulted in a quick response from BT; https://www.msn.com/en-gb/money/news/openreach-to-hire-5-000-engineers-to-bolster-broadband-rollout/ar-BB1c2383?ocid=entnewsntp
H-hi 'I really don’t value their enterprise unit......more scams less business as we’ve seen in Italy.......'
Enterprise focus on the UK domestic market, predominantly large Govt contracts. They do not operate abroad, that is Globals domain.
