I consider HIFU therapy more practical/cost-effective for earlier stage prostate, think VAL201 may one day be used in combination, cost and trial dependent.

Are Scancell even in phase 1 prostate? So minimum of 6 years away?

Ratcliffe, Winnifrith's tactics are well known, his job was to sell tickets and drum up exhibitor companies (usually by scaring them) for the UK investor show, not much else. Alone he is a crazed daft loon (and terrible fund manager), but a well-connected attack dog for his friends in bigger firms, IMO. I assume he was just satiated when Valirx and others just paid to attend his show.

Allan, very interesting news re: lithium mining and refining, how can we interpret the EU Energy minister saying:

"Discussions intensify with EU member states on how to develop mining activities inside Europe, re-opening old mines and opening new ones"

"We have very solid reserves of lithium in Portugal, in the Czech Republic and in the Nordic countries. But we do not have the refining ability. So even if we extract the lithium today, we have to send it to China for processing."

"We clearly have to cover this gap. Before Christmas, we will invite the main companies in Brussels to discuss how we can cover this gap.

It’s only logical that we should have the whole value chain in Europe. And that is one of the missing links that we have to cover. We are ready to discuss not only the regulatory aspects of course but also financial assistance – be it under the Important Projects of Common European Interest (IPCEI) or under Public Private Partnerships with the European Investment Bank (EIB).

I have no idea what to expect tomorrow, I'm telling myself it's not likely to be mindblowing, but the following line from the 6th Sept 2018 suggests they have more data on more patients available, so I would presume that would be issued via RNS (not via presentation to small group).

The last statement below is key, because theory and early pre-clinical work suggest that VAL201 should essentially prevent virtually all LNCaP (type of hormone sensitive prostate cancer) growth, so if it is matching "anticipated outcomes", that is very good news.

A preliminary inspection of the clinical data derived from the original dosing regimen has been completed regarding all the subjects that have been treated to date. This inspection considered all dosing regimens. Jonjo, an interesting question, I'm perhaps not the best equipped to answer that. My best guess:

VAL401: 24 to 36 months from start of P3 dosing (mid-2021?) This is tricky because risperidone is already well profiled and safe(ish), you could argue on the shorter side. Needs a partner or dead in the water.

VAL201: I'll err on the side of caution and assume phase 2 will complete Dec 2019, phase 3 finish...late 2021?

VAL101: So far away not worth estimating. At a total guess, 2025.

I quite like a lot of the Valirx science (feel free to lament the dire funding situation...lol).

VAL101 - BCL2 inhibitor - potentially very nice (several other BCL2 agents planned though, despite the novel nature of Satu's approach).

VAL201 - blocks androgen related sex hormone growth, allegedly without side effects, we'll see, could be lovely, dying for an update on this

VAL401....hmmm, really not sure where this is going, it's not a cure but perhaps a cheap QoL improvement, I like the method of discovery and it does appear to have some effect on HSD10 regulation/tumour reduction.

Ratcliffe, wouldn't worry about Mystic too much, from recollection they simply have the commercial agreement to potentially sell VAL101/201/401 to cancer hospices in areas not covered by Valirx's patents. Presumably that meant South Asia and the Middle East.

I am not exactly sure how Mystic (based in Bangladesh) would be able to use these products, but perhaps they intend to operate in end-of-life and less-regulated regions. VAL supposedly have a 50% cut of any profits from this deal, but no information about when it's likely to kick in.

I'm not sure Debs, the Northern Catalan areas don't get the winter frosts of the UK, but aren't that warm in December.

I'd probably choose one of the smaller Andalucian coastal fishing towns, away from the expensive tourist resorts but with good transport links. My favourite trip was to the Fuerteventura island for the volcanic beaches windsurfing and 2 euro bottles of basic cava!

Do you have any recommendations? I'm a good few decades away from retirement so plenty of planning to do.

As background, I have met him once and thought he was weird. His father ran sugar plantations in Africa (mmhmm?), expelled from private school for stealing the lead from the school roof and selling it to the local scrap dealer, then kicked out of a second high school.

He moved on to a respectable insurance career, ending up with several companies in tax havens (British Virgin Islands, Isle of Man etc.). Turns out he owns an African mine, a few weeks before he gets a diamond mining license, he sends £400k into the private bank account of a government minister, that I'm sure was totally not dodgy, totally legit and above board. /s.

I have no particular problem with earned wealth, or even inheriting wealth, I wouldn't class myself as a socialist and certainly not a far-left utopian dreamer.

I just find Farage a slimy lying toad. He sold angry people a dream that their problems would all be solved if we could just stick it to the EU elite, but offering no real solutions or willingness to negotiate or say exactly what he wants (is life ruled by British elites any different to EU elites? an interesting question).

As to whether Brexit is a good or bad thing, I have largely stopped caring, we will probably all survive. I had hoped to retire in Spain on my British pension and I'd rather minimise the border bureaucracies, I am fond of the Europeans and would like to stay if possible.

You can often tell a lot about a group by ignoring what they say in public, but follow how they have led their lives and how they amassed their wealth.

If you look at the core Brexiteer group, the common threads that unite them appears to have nothing to do with migration or trade, but seems to indicate a backlash from the banking community and offshore tax haven crowd.

The amount of times I research the key Brexiteers and I come up with repeating themes like Belize, Isle of Man and other tax havens, Rothschilds bank, metals trading, Trump, opposition to financial regulation, selling weapons, investment funds in Russia/Eastern Europe, finance PR agencies, dodgy businessmen who made hundreds of millions in developing markets in curious circumstances, etc.

Farage couldn't give a fig about fishing rights or migration, he seems laser focussed on crumbling the EU to stop them clamping down on the unethical darker side of finance markets, that his buddies just happen to make a ton of money from.

Yes I am somewhat tired of seeing the 201 trial kicked down the road for 2.5 years now. It is good to know they at least have additional results to share at what I presume would be additional 4mg, 5mg, 8(?) and potentially even 16mg dosing.

I think VAL301 might be the canary on this - if it doesn't work in prostate there's no way they will apply for VAL301 in endometriosis - too many ethical issues.
