On positive themes, if the trial ends in December 2019, the patients are typically dosed for ~5 months, ergo they have at least 2-3 months of data from the *final* patients, however many patients there are. We are in October as of tomorrow, so at least time is ticking along.

Virgie, on the pre clinical data it showed Prevention of tumour growth. In clinic, examples have been shown of little change, severe reduction 40% reduction in tumour size) and smaller improvement in PSA growth. Cancer is a bizarre mistress and not all patients will respond the same. That is the nature of the beast

On another topic, I have to say Ferdinando Auricchio has been involved in a prolific number of cancer/genomic research studies. From a laymans overview he has published many scientific papers linked to VAL201, I probably only comprehend 20-30% of their content, but appreciate he has spent a lifetime researching these topics.

Nom, I recall you thought December could be an interesting time for Valirx. I would like to agree, but I cannot decide if they'll just kick the phase 2a dosing ramp schedule along for another 6 months.

I'd be tempted to write off completely my investment if the treatment could be shown to be effiacious for even small sub-groups of patient populations. It's at least a moral write-off rather than a confusing write-off.

On paper, I still love the concept of 201. My gut tells me the lack of info suggests either a background deal is done and they're just finishing the trial, alternatively they're holding it back for exciting news/further equity raising, or finally it may just simply not be performing, which I find hard to believe after 4-5 years of trials, the regulator would have canned this long ago if that was the case (I could be wrong, of course).

Pleasant RNS, but needed a PSA reference, still cannot decide if this product is a wonder drug or a niche sideshow.

In modern times research moves fast in cancer spheres. I came across this interesting recent article potentially linking androgen-blockers (the current state of the art for prostate cancer) and why they result in tumour migration and metastatic cancers.

For those who are limited in time, it basically suggests a lab link that when androgen blockers are used, there are pathways that result in insulin changes, those insulin changes can change cell growth behaviour linked to the FOXC2 gene (appears to control cell growth/patterns). Interesting stuff.

In theory, VAL201 could bypass this problem, as it does not block the entire androgen cascade, and in theory could explain why VAL201 appears to reduce metastatic cancers by ~50% or so (as demonstrated in the lab, but not yet proven in patients).

Nomlungu at al; patent law is a byzantine maze of bureaucracy and fees. It has been a number of years since I last paid an IP invoice (I have paid several hundred, but I am not a lawyer by trade) but I vaguely recall the process.

In general, I would not worry too much about any caveats related to the payment of fees, all patent holders are beholden to various fees during the grant process, including "patent renewal fees" that will recur every couple of years throughout the life of a patent. If you don't pay any of the fees, the patent coverage will stop.

It might just be that Satu wrote the patent allowance RNS, and the VAL lawyer pointed out the patent fees must be paid to the EPO before a "Notice of Allowance" is formally rubber stamped to become a granted patent, becoming an ongoing granted claim, etc. etc.

I agree, at times I have asked George stupid questions and he has generally given me short replies.

At other times I have asked sensible questions and he has always made me feel welcome.

The mapping of mismatch repair failure, hyper-mutation, copy number alterations etc. elucidates many of the complexities that makes treating cancers the minefield that it has been. The advances in biology since my school days is almost biblically sci-fi and unbelieveable!!!

Satu will probably RNS an equity raising, then at some point she will update us on 201 to help shift some equity (I may be cynical, but realistic). I am unclear on the format. If forced into a guess, it will probably be similar to the 1-page technical posters showing pharmacokinetics, patient populations and basic outcome/imaging/PSA graphs. Otherwise George is presenting in Edinburgh in September, perhaps the new data will come in that presentation.

I'm not massively fond of investor evenings being the place for material that should be RNS'd....ideally UCLH would come out and do something, but they have been a bit quiet since the TAT exhibition.

Valju, while I am not aware of Suzy's personal circumstances, you have to consider the practical financial incentive of her position as CEO of her own company that does not have any income; it's not like she can claim maternity leave and string it out for a couple of years.

If Suzy needs an income, I presume she will make reasonable work, family and life adjustments to progress 401. If she is lucky enough not to require an income - a different outcome is more likely.

I was never been 100% convinced by the original case for 401, but over the years more research has demonstrated a consistent link between HSD10 regulation and certain cancers, so the business case for a re-formulation of known medicines into a cancer medicine is surprisingly good. While not a cancer cure itself (I think?), it is at least a moderate potential 'handbrake' on overzealous metabolic cancers, which could also be used in combination with other therapies at earlier stages in the future. From recollection it was mainly useful for adenocarcinomic sub-types.
