Norma, I hope you got in below the 220s. I got 219.5 but I know it was down at 217, I didn't buy more in case it went even lower. The conspiracy theory boys often say, they drop the price to try and get stop losses triggered then they can buy cheap shares for the big boys. How do you ever work out which direction shares are going to go?
One thing that annoys me on this share is the spread. Someone sells at 214.55 and then 7 minutes later someone buys at 221.5. Then there's the commission. No wonder it's so difficult to make money on shares.

Norma, thank you for your thoughts. I agree with you that there was nothing fantastic but it takes time to integrate businesses and SPSY is young with so much potential. We all want to make our money today and tomorrow not in a few months so people could be holding off until they see the improved results.
The SP did rise a lot going up to 230+ when acquiring CSP, maybe I am expecting too much too soon. I've been holding it since 2017 when I first bought it at £0.73, but 2 months later I had to try and lower my average due to the price being £0.60. Maybe this is another time like that.
GLA
I thought the results were good but what do I know?
A slightly improved dividend at 11.6 cents = 9.2p =4%, is not fantastic but IMHO it's due to a higher SP and sorting out the new acquisition of CSP. We're told this is transformative as it brings security printing into the core capabilities of the Company.
It gives a very encouraging outlook for the company with record earnings in 2024, so why does the market not like it?
I may have made the mistake of falling in love with this share but if we look at Simply Wall St they say we’re in good hands, once commodity prices start going up and we’re in profit about mid-2024.
Trading at 78% below our estimate of its fair value
Earnings are forecast to grow 42% per year
Analysts are in good agreement that stock price will rise by approx 120%
Dividend of 9%.
sam, i agree with you that this is getting very grim, especially with a 41% loss today. i’ve been buying these since may 2017 when buzz used to quote the price of coal and tell us all about the advantages of apf.
gino, i’ve somehow missed the rns but i’m like you and like my bananas yellow to black ready to eat now. how i wish i had sold when they were green at 140 and rebought in the 70’s
however, sam, the bod is putting their money where their mouth is.

Lots of interesting points have been raised, however, no one has stated that Martin Lewis’ weekly news states nothing may happen and it all could be a wrong assumption.
He states: - ‘I have assumed that when the FCA completes its investigation, it will rule there has been widespread mis-selling and set up some type of mass-scale redress system. … Of course, until the ruling comes, we don't know for sure, so there is a chance (albeit small) this'll be a damp squib.’
The report will come out on 25 Sept 2024, so what will CBG’s SP be then if it’s lost 40+% in a month? There must be a time when people who have lost faith decide it’s better to take the risk and hang on, as it cannot be that bad.

Meconopsis and Fanfkat, Thank you for your replies and comments and everyone else thank you for your input. I now understand the finances better but find it hard to believe that the company would be that silly to break the law. I realise it's to make extra money but in the end, you generally get found out.
I nearly bought some more at 473 but decided it could still go lower, which it did later in the day. I certainly now wish, like Mary, I had jumped off. It would be far better to have a small loss than the large one I have now but hindsight is not one of my gifts. Hummm, decisions, decisions.
Hi Meconopsis, thank you for your reply and for helping me to understand. I only pay cash for my car hence my difficulties. The dealer sells the car, making his money, and then the customer chats with CBG to get alone to pay for the car. This makes CBG liable for mis-selling, as they did not offer them the cheapest deal.
I'm sorry you thought I was attacking you about the Ombudsman decisions as I was not attempting to do this. The truth could be that I can't understand the 40% drop in the value of the SP in a month and as a teacher, I was constantly talking about Research, Analysis and 'having to accept the consequences of your actions for the decisions you make'. Has the world changed so much that we have to hold everyone's hand? It makes me sad and worried for the future.
GLA
Thank you for everyone's input and comments but could someone explain this to me? Note I’m sorry to be so stupid as I’m relatively new to investing.
1. ‘Where the value of the commission payment was disclosed then there is no case to answer. Some finance companies did disclose the value of commissions.’
- If this is the case, why has it anything to do with CBG? Shouldn’t money be taken back from the car dealers, the people who took/defrauded the people and used it to go on holiday?
2. I have always followed Martin Lewis as I agree with lots of research and haggling. However: -
‘Lewis loves to shout at times, wants the headlines talking billions gets the headlines’ – So Lewis is allowed to make money from this but the car salesmen are not because the people that they are dealing with have been too lazy?
3. Why do we have laws because people are too lazy? Will the next claim be that toilet companies have not made to bowl big enough or written a warning on the toilet so that anyone missing will be able to claim for the cleaning and backdate it for all their life?
4. Zstar stated, ‘… it’s easy to fall into an averaging down spiral’.
I’ve sort of done this but are there any guesses as to when it will level off?
Thank you for your help and GL all LTH
Yesterday DEC did some BBs, happy now?
Is China considering banning short selling, could this spread to the UK?
Look forward to answers/opinions as trying to learn, (except GG as filtered).

This explains why the market is interested and I like the fact that they've spent the last 2 years working closely with the company they're acquiring before they bought it.

It should be a relatively seamless acquisition and make SPSY worth far more. I hope! As I write the SP goes over £2.00 on INV
Newcastle coal futures increased to $128, (Today $132.15 up 2.44%), per tonne as demand from China is set to rise as temperatures are falling. China's thermal coal imports for November are anticipated to reach approximately 29.21 million metric tons, surpassing October's 24.62 million and trailing only May's 30.21 million, as per data collected by commodity analysts at Kpler. Out of the total, Australia is expected to deliver to China 7.22 million metric tons, a substantial increase from October's 4.23 million, marking the highest monthly total since Beijing lifted its informal ban on imports from Australia earlier this year.
I hope this will stop the SP from slipping and we'll now move more North. Hopefully, the results at the end of this month will be good.
As someone who has been holding IG for a few years and is in the red, I'm pleased to hear they are trying to be far more profitable. It also looks like the market agrees as we have gone up 3% so far and I hope it holds it at the end of the day.

This does not have an opinion but it's good to get the news out with traders.

How similar your thoughts are to mine.
In my younger days been badly burnt with AIM stocks, 'pump and dump'. Only buy FTSE 250 or 100 that give good dividends. Except for SPSY as had it for a few years and back in at 150p; then recently, (could be burnt again), WJG.
The things I often do wrong are not selling when they are doing well, getting back in when things are a bit slow and they go down again and taking a loss when things do not look good. Hindsight is a fantastic thing/dream, and I'd love to have a regular private chat with a few investors to talk over different options/opinions/research. How I wish I could set up one in my city. :-) Dreams of cruising/wonderful holidays all on the back of investments. However, I have to be quicker than you as very close to the OAP page. lol
GL and 'one day'! lol
Darton, thank you for that link. Interesting reading.
I have a relation, a retired Headteacher, who on her pension has been around the world on fantastic holiday trips. There was a time when they had gold pensions. Unfortunately not for us, so we have to work hard on the stock market to enable us to have a few extras :-)
I dream of owning that share that will make life a bit easier.

Dartron, thank you for your comments. I too have been in and out over the last few years, Epwin shares. I always regularly read everything I can about it and thank you for your comments for people on the BB.
Stockopedia agrees with you as their thoughts are: - Quality72, Value 90, Momentum 58, StockRank™ 87.
Whenever Epwin is under 70p I'm always looking to buy more shares. I'm not sure how long it'll be before I'm in the green but at least it's not falling as hard as many of my other shares ATMIT.
DYOR and GL all holders.
Today Safestyle has plunged 60% after it put itself up for sale after funding talks failed.
Looks like Epwin will have one less competitor making things better for them when things settle, people want to improve their houses and life moves on. It has moved up slightly today on this news.
What do others think?
I feel a bit like I'm talking to myself. I hope someone is interested and reads this.
