Iknownuffin, this happens every night after trading has finished. I do sometimes wonder of the age group of people that invest. I know it’s open to anyone who is old enough but for gods sake they should show a little bit of maturity before hitting the keyboard. Old enough to invest your old enough to use google or pick the phone up and ask someone who is paid to know. Rant over.

Evan, your asking questions like a child me old mate. No one on here can give you a definitive answer, so ask your broker. They will be able to answer the question accurately using the latest guidelines. For what it’s worth my understanding is this:

If you get shares in a company NOT trading on the London stock exchange they have to be sold by your broker, then that money is put in a trading account then at that point you pay any CGT due. I of course stand to be corrected and undoubtedly will be. But if and when we get to that point I will take the appropriate advice.

My broker (Lloyds) has the closing price as 39.50 so as far as they’re concerned it was a red finish:-((
