Got to hand it to Morgan Stanley.

Whilst its depressing to see the share price drop by 20%, they're sitting there mopping up the cheap stock significantly under book.

Hopefully they will chuck another £500m plus at the buy back at the interims in 4 weeks time.

Every cloud has a silver lining.

Technically we just need to move through 15p and stay there and we should break out and up into the 20s.

However, as people have commented, and rather surprisingly the market appears unmoved by today's news so 15p remains a key point of resistance until something occurs to finally push us through.

Surprised that they bottled it with just a 0.5% rise. Be interesting to see what sterling does.

Gazz .. you forget that Lloyds is awash with non interest bearing cash that costs them nothing. This is either lent or put on the overnight money markets and represents billions of pounds.

Trust me when I say that when it goes on when rates are2.5% rather than 0.1% it make a huge different to income.

You are assuming Lloyds raises most f its money from the money markets and pays top dollar for it. It doesn't, so every rise in rates just increases the income and margins, particularly when you have a £312bn mortgage book

With each previous base rate rise, we've seen Lloyds rise into the decision and then fall sharply along with all the other Banks as soon as the interest rate rise has been announced.

It will be interesting to see how the shares react to the 0.75% rise that I expect to be announced at midday and what will become of the buy back given the lack of appetite by Morgan Stanley to chase the shares higher .....

I’m confident that it will be 0.75%. They’re already behind the curve and a failure to get on top of it will see sterling fall further.

The Fed and ECB have already raised so it’s inevitable that the old lady of thread needle street will follow suit.

Expect it to happen Monday as the DRIP (Dividend Re Investment Prog) coincides with the staff monthly share purchase programme.

You then have the share buy back sitting behind both of these to provide further support.

With interest rates due to rise 0.75% on the 22nd and the impact this will have on the £310bn mortgage book, Lloyds is starting to look like an absolute bargain.

Setting itself up to break the 46p resistance level before heading up to the 50s.

Tomorrow will be a key day technically. Fingers crossed.

Painful for the youngsters but when you have a £312bn mortgage book that is going to see the average rate on it double over the next 18 months, the world looks a somewhat rosier place.

I continue to believe that the market is massively under estimating the income that is going to flow from the mortgage book as customers drop off low 1% rates and move onto 4% plus and of course other base rate related lending across the bank.

Appreciate the coming recession will drive defaults but the mortgage book is going to be driving upwards of £10bn of income within 18 months alone.

Just popping in as promised. RKH will get their cash and will at least double from here to around 40p.

No stock is going to trade at below it’s cash value and when you chuck in Sealion, RKH is a 3 bagger from 15p by the end of the year.

Good luck with BOR which sadly is a stranded asset and won’t ever get to be developed imho.

There is no right of appeal.

The decision is binding on all parties. Don’t pay and a judgement will be sought in a US court at which time Italian asset can be seized.

Also failure to Kay can impact a states credit rating with Moodys etc as it is seen as a default.

Still 50% undervalued and the announcement hasn't hit any of the news feed yet.

Once it does it will be everywhere this afternoon and when the US markets open, you can expect further rises.

It's just taking a pause whilst some people are shaken and stopped out.

With Sealion and the cash on the books, no-one should be selling at under 40p unless they are mad, desperate or both.

Not sure how they work it but the 7% should be worked back to the point that Italy changed the rules and banned drilling.

However this would I guess only be on the cost part of the claim rather than lost profits . However you could argue that the profits from each year’s production could have been re-invested for a return so the 7% should be applied to this too.

Hopefully not long now until we will get to see either way.

Hey LT.. normally it’s about 7% made up of inflation, interest that could have been earned but also the loss of opportunity that could have been derived from having the cash. I would imagine it’s going to run into many millions of pounds.

My view on the delay is that Italy are doing everything they can to frustrate the award so you can safely say that they have lost and lost big.

It is possible that they are negotiating for a quick pay out behind the scenes on a non disclosure basis.

On a more serious note, the recent results from all the banks and focus on the additional income from rising interest rates should see us rise sharply tomorrow.

Fantastic set of results with H2 earnings likely to be further enhanced by a 0.5% interest rate rise next week and additional rises through to the end of the year.

Has to be a re-rating soon albeit if the market wants to keep letting them buy the shares in the buyback at a 25% discount to book, then so be it.

Not at all. We’re all here to make money and when Borders were at 6p plus I simply came on to advise to take profits wife’s the share price went south as it was clearly a pump and dump on the back of Mr Calgary taking a position.

You were free to ignore my advice and half your money which you clearly did.

My next piece of advice was to buy RKH pending the Ombrina Mare award due by the 23rd August.

If I am correct you will have had the opportunity to multi bag your original investment in Bor rather than watch you profits slip away.

The low buy back today and string rise is telling you that there was so much demand for shares, had they sought to buy back another 40m the price would probably have started to rise inexorably.

This is about getting as much stock as possible at the lowest possible price, not creating a stock squeeze.

Almost bang on.

So my next prediction is that Rockhopper will be at 30p plus by no later than the 23rd August on the back of the Ombrina Mare award.
