Liberum said on Friday that fast-fashion retailer Boohoo "will struggle to reinvigorate growth" even after the opening of its new distribution centre in the US.

The broker - which rates the shares at ‘sell’ with a 35p price target - said that while Boohoo is confident of achieving pre-pandemic growth and margin rates, it is less convinced.

"The group has not gained much share of the UK online clothing market in the last three years and has clearly lost massive ground to Shein in the US and to online marketplaces in Rest of Europe," Liberum noted.

"Given the ground already lost to Shein and plans to open further local distribution centres in the US, we think Boohoo will struggle to reinvigorate growth even after the opening of their new DC (or at the least the growth could be rather costly)."

It added: "On profitability, while headwinds are turning into tailwinds these will need to be reinvested into pricing, marketing, and improving the consumer delivery and returns offer."

The broker is forecasting negative free cash flow until FY25, hence why the shares look "optically cheap" at only 0.4x EV/sales and 9x EV/EBITDA.

"With no FCF or dividend support, diminished prospects in its markets and lack of visibility on the scalability of its newer brands, we believe there is better value elsewhere for now," it said.

90% down in profits first half, why is anyone still invested, better online retailers out there.. Asos, Hbos, N brown all having recent big investments. Boo is making no profit lol even after paying workers £3 an hour. No one has any money, inflation, recession, energy bills, food prices up, in this environment , all customers are going to shein.

Brilliant interview in my opinion, clarifies the RNS. Daylight robbery for those that sold.. Qbt are not mining themselves due to capital, as fg says In the interview they don't want to dilute everyone's shareholding, again shows any decision being made they have us in mind. Once the revenue rolls in through miners taking up our improvements & the funds from the recent court case win, mining our selves becomes more viable option without raising additional capital causing everyone's shares to be worth less.

FG would be a brave man giving an interview after that market reaction! but still would be welcomed.

up to 30% is good vs other options at the moment for an existing miner? I think they need some revenue coming in now, and this would be a good start, gut feeling is they have a miner already signed up.

I'll take up to 30% anyway with no additional investment in mining rigs,.makes more commercial sense.

I agree with you Addison, I do think they are seeing improvements through every cycle of testing, and if i interpret FG words right in one of the previous interviews, in some cases this is daily improvements, and partly explains the delay. 30- 50% or even more is possible. The next Rns i think is key, and the team would have pushed the limits as far they can go, to the point where any further testing would bring diminishing results.

Drop in bitcoin has just bought the whole market down.. including miners. Nothing has changed fundamentally.. we're still on track with our goals, unless an Rns drops stating otherwise. I think others have said it more or less, Qbt's value proposition / strategy ( cheaper/ faster miner) is more attractive given the current market conditions, whether they mine themselves or help other struggling miners either way there is money to be made. I'd rather the testing is done, final outcomes presented to the market, x% how efficient Qbt are in comparison etc etc then release something now and later retract because further improvements could have been made. Which will just cause more uncertainty/ volatility. I think they are pushing it as far as they can go, any improvements will have to be tested and confirmed. In future would expect them to continue the r&d along side the Mining side of the business.. these are just my thoughts.. I'd like to think I'm not wrong but reading some of the posts on here does Make me doubt sometimes :)

But also i think news can drop any day now, as fg said test results can come any day, don't think well be waiting another year.. and I'm leaning towards positive results based mostly on the recent interviews..

just hope when we reopen trading there is a positive update from the company, last time this happened nearly lost it all! ( bought into amigo.. if you know you know..) Amigo was a different situation..

If qbt is a scam or fg a fraud we would have never had any success with the ongoing court cases, just referring to the recent rns update for legal claims. If it's all a sham we shouldn't expect the court to entertain anything from qbt, yet they seem to be doing good in there legal claims, so I think it's a honest business. The simple explanation is there is nothing to update, testing is being done and once there is something material to update , I'm sure we would hear soon. I'm hoping it's tommorow, any news on the testing and an extension to the option expiry Will be a positive.

June-22 looks like when the news might drop, that would make it at least 3 months of testing, which should be enough time to remediate any issues experienced during testing.. though I'm no expert in the tech side of this. Personally sitting and waiting, watching , topping up when Mr Market presents an opportunity etc... I cant imagine a team of experts failing to deliver what they said they would do :)

Short term targets 100m - 300m valuation easy. I've been impressed with FG and the team so far, considering how they have priced there options, and the work to date, and I know the professor has mentioned investing in unicorns, so something tells me that is what QBT and the whole team really are aiming for, So £1 billion valuation is not far fetched, considering all the work that is being done. Just need those test results, but as the professor said in last interview they are very confident.

Think we have been circa 3p for quite a long time now, cant help but think once this goes, the move up will be Volatile.

This should be back to 3p soon, even without news considering ysterdays moves. From what I can recall.. there were some huge buys over 3p not long ago.. so this really should be 3p right now if it wasn't for macro / economic issues.
