Romaron - it’s not happening tomorrow and there is a lot to pull together, but I think there is now the will to do it. Hydrogen is happening. It might be blue or grey or what not initially but BP and Equinor etc have deep enough pockets and the will to make the green stuff.

Users will start with trucks, buses, small boats, light aircraft, and SUVs.

A demonstration project has been run showing that 20% hydrogen can be injected into the natural gas grid.

I am still a believer in oil. Hydrogen will be a great distraction that will draw away investment and drive oil prices higher.

L3 last offload started on the 16th around 1700 I believe so it will be 14 days if hookup is tomorrow (scheduled to arrive at AK at 1300).

Chilting - you are being obtuse.

My assumption which I have clearly stated is that demand will be higher than 2019 next year and grow for the next 5 to 10 years. So opec need to produce more than 2019 and also make up for reductions from majors and shale.

OPEC bringing back barrels is irrelevant in this scenario.

You are entitled to your view that oil is a short term play, but I think that is not a mainstream viewpoint, and is perhaps coloured by your profits made speculating on renewables. Your arguments are not self consistent so there is not much point in discussing this with you further.

So you think we have a new paradigm for demand, but same old same old for supply?

Seems unlikely to me. 2 main reasons:

1. Investors and banks are not touching oil so investment needs to come from cash flow. This is a huge change.
2. Majors are now not in the barrel replacement game. Their production will decline no matter where price goes. This now looks likely to include US majors.

So where is your oversupply coming from? It’s a big ask for smaller shale players to pick up the slack.

Chilting - you seem to not have read my post. I am saying oil demand will grow and supply will not keep pace.

Both pressures are ESG driven.

Oil Demand will rise to develop new technologies and infrastructure.

Oil Supply will be constrained by lack of investment.

All IMVHO of course, but it seems practical. You seem to be suggesting that demand will drop due to new energy, but supply will grow and investment continue as if nothing has changed. You can’t have it both ways.

Personally I don’t have a problem with these activists getting a little oxygen . We do need to change to more sustainable energy, reduce waste, recycle, and improve efficiency. Things might even be as dire as they claim.

Is immediately halting oil production the answer? Absolutely not. Is it possible? No.

The change needs to be driven by governments working with industry. It’s not going to happen overnight. The grown ups will ensure an orderly transition.

The way to a better future is through more energy use, not less. That is why oil is a good investment. Demand will rise for the next decade to fuel the better future. That is what these people don’t understand.

Romaron - yes it’s interesting - KO expresses a wish for a salesman CEO. Well that’s what they had at TLW and look how well that ended. Google finance is good for comparing charts.

I like AB because he is realistic. Ultimately we need a good POO to support the high debt levels and be able to utilise our tax losses.

It’s all coming good now and we will eventually be rewarded. There are structural changes coming due to climate change but I have confidence that this will be a managed transition over devades and will present opportunities.

Chilting - there is underinvestment happening still., so that story just gets worse in 2022 IMHO. It’s not enough to even get back to where we were let alone grow supply beyond 2019 levels, which is what will likely be required next year.

Remains to be seen if shale production will drop much further this year before it rises, but I don’t think that can be ruled out. Can they really hold it at 11 million with the number of rigs active?

Chilting - shale can respond relatively quickly, but they will also be constrained by lack of equipment and skilled people that were lost last year. They will be competing with renewables same as everywhere else now.

You seem to think underinvestment and deep cuts in the labour force don’t matter to shale? If nothing else it will increase their break even and drag the whole price landscape higher IMHO.

Also much of the shale patch is now held by big oil who will be focusing more on renewables. So competition internally for investment.
