I work in a place where they are doing a PCR naso swab every week, if you share the work space with a colleague. Thank God I don't, but they may want to do it if an instructor needs to be present when one needs a refresher. Poor sods.

UP THE NOSE NASAL SWAB: Here's How It Works

The healthcare worker opens the card and lays it flat on a countertop.
Extraction reagent is added to the test card, which is about the size of a credit card.
A nasal swab is taken from the patient.
A technician inserts the swab into the test card, folds over the cover and in 15 minutes, reads the result.
People who use the app and receive a negative test result will get a temporary encrypted digital health pass via a QR code (similar to an airline boarding pass) sent to the NAVICA app. The digital pass is renewed each time a person receives a negative test result and includes the date of the latest test result submission. Organizations will be able to view and verify the information on a mobile device to help make entry into these places easier, along with hand-washing, social distancing, enhanced cleaning and mask-wearing.
Those who test positive will receive a message through the app telling them to quarantine and talk to their doctor.

Trihop, I cannot remember an airport without queues. Even in Manaus, in the middle of the Amazon forest, there was queues when I flew there many years ago. . And why can people be given the test whilst queueing for the check in? Everyone there will police the guy next to you, as no one will want to fly with people that tries to fraud the test. Anyway, there is no other solution at the moment and the airlines will want to be a safer place for you to fly your family with.
I guess we will agree to disagree on the methods here.

Ok, but where is this machine that can test people at the airports in 10 minutes and in great numbers at once? There isn't one yet, so I suggest the LFT's are the immediate solution.

Hants, of course any tests at the airport will be supervised. Besides, to try and fraude the tests should and will be penalised in some countries. Spain and France have hefty fines for not wearing a mask, whereas here there isn't such an approach.

Hants, how I imagined the LFT test in airports, contrary to what you said, can be a reality and very useful. I alwasy thought the LFT kit would have a label on the back with the name of the passenger and the details of date and time and serial number and you would carry it with you on the plane, and it would become proof that you have been tested. Once you arrive at your destination you can use it for the transport system and the hotel you stay. It may have a valid until date, maybe?

Well, something like that, until we have a global data base, bu that is a hard copy of it.

Glad to know your are on holidays...I had to cancel mine as France is out of boundaries for me at moment.

Totally agree with you, we now need to wait. I keep listening to Sir John Bell's interview and wonder about his enthusiasm on a couple of LFA tests he finds interesting and, by what he says looks like sensitivity is 90%. I am happy with that as I have much confidence in our affimers to kick some azz. :0)

It is clear that some people here don't like doing some little research to easy their hearts and minds. There was even some people talking of results of the clinical validation from the LSTM for end of september. Well, I for one would not be pleased with that.

So, we know the BAMS' trial started before the LFA, so I can imagine the results for the BAMS will land any time now.

As for the LFA results from the LSTM, if we take Mologic's antibody LFA clinical validation conducted a while back by the LSTM, it took them circa 5 weeks to provide the results. The same timeframe can be applied to SONA's clinical validation (look at their website). Our clinical validation was "announced" on the 7th of August, so you do the maths.

But the BAMS and Integumen's results could land any day at any time in the form of a RNS.
