Membership numbers up at the RAC are up as they attempt to eat into market share of Green Flag and RAC. I spoke to someone close to the RAC. What is missing from all this is that the RAC has been aggressively running cut-price new member sales pretty much permanently all year. Only now as RAC results are out, have the RAC stopped sales. The person at the RAC also had concerns about the legality of permanently being on sale when I put this question to them.

I also asked him why the AA do not do cut-price sales. The person at the RAC told them they did not need too because the AA has a better service :-)

Pianista, we know the AA won the breakdown assistance contract with Admiral (a 7.8 billion company). If you can find a contact in the inside you would be better informed of more.

Monkshood, foreign exchange swings are wild and is the reason I hold equal amounts of PIN to HVPE. But the share prices have not shifted (yet?) despite the swing in NAV. It would be interesting to wait and see. I know PIN has naturally more volatility.

55p to 120p with a mean of 82p.

I think anything under 55p will be opposed and any bidder should understand the reasons.

The volume is so thin everyone is simply waiting on tenterhooks. Stop losses in this scenario can help create volatility and opportunity for buying so any recommendation to set one up appears to the vast majority here as disingenuous but some will get suckered in. Posts such as asking "why has this dropped" when all the while the volume is so thin are a bit disingenuous too, and typical of LSE posts.

Really sensible posts, I had to check if I was really on LSE. I too have added at 37.5p (wish I added sooner) and will continue to add where I can rebalance my portfolio because this is not a sprint to the 1st of September. That date could be just the start of the story and a base where I can add more funds! While the downside is considerable (no one here is delusional) I think there are enough sensible parties to warrant the risk-reward on the side of a deal. 55p does seem to be the minimum target as I believe the BOD will not be popular with anything less by the majority of existing shareholders... many of them AA staff who have been buying since the 270p days.... I presume we will get to vote on any deal?

I am doing a bit of discount control myself. I have added some just now. The overall market has been down this week.

This is an example of how not to use a stop loss. In this scenario, the SP would simply step change to the lower level. And 35p would be a natural fluctuation even without news. The FTSE is down again and the share price here and everywhere reflects this.

It is a shame this has all come to this. Private Equity loaded the AA up with debt and sold it into the markets where investors all lost money on the equity. Just as the company show signs of improving Private Equity simply sweep in to buy the debt and get a great company for peanuts.

This had been my thinking, no news until after the deadline. However, the news does appear to get leaked out!!!

Regarding: property market.

Builders in a C19-recovery play is for you, I however am playing property market rebound by sticking to what I know and have bought Rightmove this week as it is backed by fund managers I know (including Ballie Gifford who invest in GROW) and is a business I understand and use (that's why Purple Bricks is not for me). I don't like leaving the safety of funds but attractively priced investments are increasingly harder to find. I am selling down Ocado (another Ballie Gifford investment) to fund RightMove. I don't invest in funds who buy UK listed companies cos most of the listed UK market is carp.

Despite the share buyback to control the discount, I am scratching my head wondering why NAV reports are published biannually. I think they should be done quarterly to provide more stability to the growth of the share price. I missed out on the AGM and I may have attended and asked GROW about this had the thought crossed my mind a month or so ago.

Still early-stage for GROW's modest stake in Revolut. Only one challenger bank has managed to post a profit but the numbers are good....

Does the debt of 2.65B not include pension deficit that will remain on the books so not really part of a package?

Nice write-up Steph. I do not see much volatility for those thinking of trading due to share buybacks introduced and shorts closed. If anything, if the share price does drop under NAV it will be bought up pretty quickly with GROW's buyback.
