830-730p in under a week. Someone’s playing silly b#ggers
It was extraordinary to call the last few years 'a windfall' for bp. The covid times was unprecedentedly terrible for O&G and just as that receded we suffered $20bn in assets being stranded in Russia.
One could more justifiably call recent times 'a windfall' for online retailers. Maybe a WT on Amazon.
I am not in favour of changing tax policy at the whims of public or media calls. If UK govt were serious, rather than lurching from one bad idea to another so far for all of the 21st C, then it would clearly state and follow policy, giving confidence and predictability to investors.
Cevodniya, that's a good challenge. As others have said, it feels good to sell a third (or some other proportion) of one's holding to recoup the historic costs, catch a free ride. I suppose the answer to your question is that there are typically many different shareholder types. Founders and disciples will tend to hold on, some others will walk away when they achieve multiples of their initial investment. Institutions will increase holdings as the valuation increases, especially if that pushes the company into an index, meaning that it must be held. Private Investors are always negotiating with the voices of greed and fear. We should cut losers and buy winners but instincts, pride and financial responsibilities, urgencies, spouses and ageing can all get in the way of what we should do.
Tremendous response from JDW on the LSE website. I would encourage others to read it.
Not to sound patronising but be careful if you must set a stop loss. (I don't use them)
Spoons dropped to 776.5p on 27/12/23 but you won't see that on even the 1 month chart, where the daily price printed at over £8. I'm sure a lot of private investors get shaken out like that, mugged of hard-won profits.
Just bought some more at 300p
No, it wasn't an odd response, though mostly meant as a joke.
You described the women as 'incredible', which is synonymous with unbelievable. Credible means believable, even confidence-inspiring. I did not imply, even if you inferred, that women are not credible. I said I like my leaders credible.
Please read it again, words and logic are important, even at bp.
