The current dock is fine for drilling and oil field supply - it's much the same as Aberdeen TBH (and was built very quickly by the locals)

The new dock or rather quay is for large liners so they don't have to sit out in the Outer Harbour and transfer passengers by boat. Very large cruise ships are unlikely to ever visit the FI - some of them carry more passengers than the total population. They already have to close the main front street when a bigger boat is in as the punters wander all over the road in vast crowds (by FI standards).

They had to add railings on the harbour side after a couple of S Koreans fell in a couple of years back

There is also Punta Arenas in Chile - a lot of the air support for Antarctica operates out of there. Not sure the RAF would be happy with a lot of commercial activity at Mt Pleasant - a few flights a week seem to worry them enough already. I could see more cruise ship activity especially if they build the new base in the outer harbour - it's a good stop on the way/to from Antarctica - and they can make a round a trip of it - Ushuia or PA - Antarctica - FI - which looks better to the cruising folk.

Averaging down can also be described as throwing good money after bad - the small oiler sites are full of shareholders who have "averaged down " in shares that are 5% or less of the SP of their original investment.

For HUR to come good they HAVE to do something new - another well, another field, maybe farm-in as non-operator on another exploratory drill somewhere. Just sitting on a one well filed isn't going to do it - question is - where does that cash come from?

So why would anyone buy in? The project may have enough money but its clear the Company hasn't enough spare cash to pay it's Directors, consultants and employees. They have to dilute current SH to get more cash

Adrain - you always try and start out that way as an "innocent newbie" and over 3 days start hitting the Badger and descend into abuse, repetitive posts and as always another ban.

TBF people in the FI are masters at multi-tasking - they have to be. The guy who checks your papers at the airport is likely to be found operating a JCB on a new housing plot and working the bar in a pub in the evening - so few people, so far away and no way of whistling someone up at less than 4 days notice at best.
