Results to April 2020 are "broadly" in line with expectations at this insolvency practitioner and professional services group.

Broadly means "almost" in stock market parlance.

Revenue is a small beat at £70 million, but adjusted PBT is a small miss at £9.2 million.

Net debt is less than £3 million - close enough to zero that it doesn't matter too much at this stage. Cash of £7 million vs. drawn borrowing facilities of £10 million.

Lockdown impact - PBT took a £0.6 million hit from lockdown's effects on some property-related services in the last six weeks of the year. Less work was available in commercial property valuations and business sales.

Business recovery (insolvencies) - this division should be doing very well, and it is. Profit growth of 30% for the year and it was growing even before the lockdown-induced disaster.

Outlook - expects insolvency appointments to keep rising and more disruption to property services, until economic conditions return to normal.

My view - has great momentum and very benign economic conditions, given the nature of what it does. The tailwinds might be priced in at a high-teens P/E multiple.

Half Year 2020 Arrow Global Group PLC Earnings Call

For Arrow Global (ARW) chief executive Lee Rochford, the looming potential credit crunch facing firms and individuals across Europe is “exactly the kind of situation this company is geared to.” That’s a bullish statement for a company whose own net debt only just fell within the target range to 3.4 times trailing cash profits.

The debt specialist can point to several sources of optimism. One is free cash flow, which remains robust, climbing 13 per cent to £261m. More critical – especially for long-term investors – is the maturity of Arrow’s own borrowings, which means no debt is due until 2024. That buys time to both de-lever and continue the pivot towards managing investments in non-performing loans and unwanted mortgage portfolios on behalf of third parties.

On that front, there has been progress. Arrow raised €838m (£743m) for its initial fund, and continues to target €2bn of funds under management by the end of this year. Mr Rochford is fully confident of clients’ appetite to park their capital with his firm, even accounting for an increasingly uncertain macro-economic outlook.

Opportunities to deploy capital was hardly in short supply in 2019, as investment volumes hit a record £304m. Nonetheless, Numis expects a “material” drop in acquisitions in 2020, as Arrow co-invests with fund clients.

Analysts at JP Morgan expect adjusted earnings per share of 40.7p this year, and 45p in 2021.

This stock continues to split opinion. In the bear camp, Peel Hunt flagged the drop in upward portfolio revaluations and the delayed impact of potential write-downs in these results. Bullish Jefferies believes Covid-19 could be “helpful for asset pricing”. We remain neutral: hold.

Shares in Cora Gold were down 6.7% at 10.50 pence in London on Wednesday, while Resolute Mining shares were down 14% at 62.08p.

Hummingbird Resources also on Wednesday said it is "closely monitoring" the situation in Mali and has seen no current impact on its operations and production at the Yanfolila mine, located around 280 kilometres south west of Bamako.
Hummingbird shares were down 9.2% at 31.33p.
