It’s just dawned on me that in respect of the takeover of Centamin by Anglogold Ashanti, I never received the requisite corporate actions from Barclays in time enough to dispose of my Centamin holding. Am I missing something here, should we have been afforded an opportunity to offload Centamin prior to being obliged to accept Crest DI shares. Can anybody set me straight.

I pity the broker who has to sort out what was finely spelt out in the scheme of arrangement, Depositary Interests held by the US DTC, ultimately owned by another bank (Cede or something). Us shareholders were never destined to own the shares, just interests in the shares. Has anybody heard of these type of arrangements before.

Somnamna, just got off the phone with Barclays - I’m calling weekly now. Nobody there can give me any further information, and have been told i must wait 8 weeks before a response to my complaint is offered. Nothing short of disgraceful is overly polite.

Somnamna, i wonder what’s going to happen on payday in March, 69 cents per share, Barclays are still not showing that they indeed have any ownership of shares, or else they’d be tradable by now wouldn’t they. Certainly this situation is very stressful for me, and i only have a few thousand shares. I do feel let down by Barclays not explaining it to me like a grown-up.

I’ve lost a fortune also after following this business for many years. This stinks of being well thought out, scooped up a very valuable asset for a portion only of its real value. I also subscribed to the various fund raisers, feel conned also.

Problem is TEAC that transfer to another provider can take mon this to effect, I’m afraid to do it.

I have just noticed that Barclays have removed from the “historical folder” all corporates actions in connection with Centamin. I am sure that i never received the any corporate actions in respect of Centamin until well after the event, I noticed those corporate actions in my historical folder in December 2024, but they have now disappeeared, does this shed any light on the problems with Barclays - I’m absolutely lost for words.

I am on the phone now to Barclays Smart Investor. They tell me again there is nothing they can do about this and it is taking time because of cross border transactions. When i asked for an indemnification against all losses, they said no, and that they are allowed by UK law 8 weeks to respond to any complaint. As i lodged my formal complaint on 31 Jan 2025, I’ll probably be in a new tax year (05 April) further compounding any issues. Nobody at ~Barclays can tell me what is going on, does anybody know?

I’m in the UK and ~UK resident, so complaining to an Australian outfit - not sure it would help me.

I am also suffering, but it’s difficult to see what action could be taken against Barclays Smart Investor, unless their actions cause damage, ie financial losses. What is really annoying is being lied to by Barclays staff, who claim they know nothing about the issue or why it’s happening and (they say) it needs to be referred to corporate actions team. I have raised a formal complaint by nothin g substantive has happened.
