But BP in UK at 52 week high .
No where near 52 week high in US .
Just wondered what the pattern showed over a 5 year period.( mainly as %).
The graphs of sp are the same shape, but currency movement over that period flattened out some peaks( at least I think that’s what happened)

BP PLC - London-based oil major - Non-Executive Director Blanc, the Aviva CEO, buys 23,500 BP shares at GBP4.39 each, GBP103,146 in total. Blanc's stake in BP following the September 30 purchase was not stated.

Which means the only buybacks not in profit are a couple of today’s at £4.71
Between the buybacks and oil price today, the 52 week high had no chance

So we have a bit of catching up still to do.
Some time in next couple of weeks going to look at number for BP and Shell.
Also BP in £ v ADR in $
Then compare to Exxon and Chevron.
Just curious what they look like.

Think final quarter of 2022 will continue to have oil price in range $90_100.
OPEC seem to like that range.
Historically that’s not a high oil price.
Looks like 2022 full year going to be a very good one for BP

Who would have thought at the time in 2010 BP would still be paying for the disaster almost quarter of a century later.
Lesser companies would not have survived.
I am glad BP was the type of company to pay for its mistake.
But it left it very open to being taken advantage of.
Other companies involved not quite so open to acceptance of blame.
However when we think of the cash implications to BP we have to remember the families who lost people.

There is approx $10 billion still to pay for Deep Water Horizon.
Possibly some of it could be paid earlier?
Does that help profit/ loss?
However I have heard that those payments outstanding are considered to be a defence against takeover as the bill is higher than normal.
( I think with strong dollar and low valuation this would never stop someone determined but don’t see takeover being obvious anyway)

Yes it sounds positive.
And it is at least self financed.
They do say they are in growth mode so all earnings are reinvested.
You expect oil prices to roughly half so that gets me up to nearly 1% of oil revenues replaced.( it is lower risk)
My key line would be the following
The company – a joint venture between its founder, Nick Boyle, and the oil supermajor BP – is, by some measures, the world’s largest solar developer.
Long term it can’t do BP any harm to be 50% of the worlds largest solar developer.
BP s plan was to have lots of these Unicorns growing up into whatever Unicorns grow up into.
Ps I would love to report a very positive BP and oil story but they are really in short supply currently.

Morning all
Think it would be healthy to consolidate the gains of the last few days.
Exxon suggesting a very good quarter
Shell as Bumble says suggesting less than last quarter.
Think most of us expect BP profits to be less than last quarter, but much better than 1st quarter.
Wonder if BP will also give an indication of how quarter went.
A short pause then onward and upwards

Just looked back at sp approx this point before last set of results
14 th July sp £3.64 almost £1 below where we are.
Sp then slowly rose into results day.
History doesn’t always repeat, but boy are we well set up at present, with quite a few positive tail winds to help.
