It being 10% instead of 5% will become a positive going forward.
Because if they had only done 5% they would definitely have come back again for another round.
Personally think the drop in capital gains threshold and drop in tax free limit on dividend are bigger worries as private investors.

I would respect them all a lot more if they were practicing what they preach.
That is living their lives without oil or gas.
No TV no Phone no car no power ( solar and wind need oil to manufacture) no public transport almost no food( just the odd thing from their garden).very little in the way of clothes( hand spun from their own sheep).
Walking to their protests would slow them down.
But that’s what they think we should all be doing

D-Day has finally arrived.
The day we find out how much of our Profits the Government will Delete with a Dreaded. Windfall tax ( markII).
At least by end of day we will know what the markets think.
Even if it will probably take a week or 2 for the Company to make its mind up how bad it is.
Is it priced in ?
Will it be even worse than we thought?
It may be the worst kept secret ever.

The interim dividend per share is 4.5 eurocents (FY22 H1: 4.5 eurocents). The ex-dividend date for the interim dividend is 24 November 2022 for ordinary shareholders, the record date is 25 November 2022 and the dividend is payable on 3 February 2023.

Morning all
We start the day with a bit of good news that the missiles are probably not from Russia.
Then we swing the other way with inflation up at 11.1%.
Wow it’s a long time since we have seen that.
Possible better news could be that rise in pound might help going forward.
Oil prices have been flat for a while ( with lots of volatility).
Coming close hopefully to last interest rate rises.
So just maybe inflation getting near to peak.
We just need to get through the winter and see whats there afterwards.

Question I have is do we think PM and Chancellor are clever?
If they are they will,catch.us by surprise.
We all know it’s the Tory way to leak ideas to the press and wait and gauge reaction.If it’s bad the idea is quietly retired.
I’m thinking the rise will be a little smaller than expected, just to help the smaller oil companies.
However since it’s BP and Shell profits they are really after.
Think stamp duty on buybacks could go up to maybe 5%.
We already paid about £50,000,000 in stamp duty buybacks
This has added bonus it catches othe companies as well.
If they do it in bands like income tax say 1% for 1 st billion pounds.
Not saying I exactly like it but could see it being very popular.
It would also give BP control as they could plan buybacks to suit what they wanted to pay
