Very high risk if it’s taken 11 years to even get this far.
A few positives
1) it’s huge ( size of Belgium is mentioned)
2) it’s offshore which cuts risk a bit
3) it’s close to Europe for marketing ( relatively speaking)
4) they have been after it for years so they must be very confident there is something there worth finding

A very sad time especially for the families.
Think it would have been the end of many companies.
Has been a shadow over BP for a large number of years.
BP is finally putting it behind ,but I hope that lesson has been well and truly learned.
Have a little concern after recent Refineries issues,that It may need to be reinforced.

Nobody goes on boards like this to research their next buy.
And if they do they soon have no cash left to invest.

I like your take on the buybacks repeating last Jan.
Hope it happens and takes market by surprise.
Trading the dips would have worked often over the last 2 years as long as you get it right.( but it’s often been very predictable)

That’s a wee bit depressing, but not totally unexpected.
I had a feeling this buyback with less cash might be more a repeat of Q2.
Maybe if the acquisition does not complete by year end they will do a mini buyback extra, but think I’m clutching at straws.
We will just have to rely on OPEC doing what OPEC does best.

One day finally the market will discover what BP has been doing in plain sight.
By then it will be a major change to the company structure.( if not already)

The most important part.
It’s even repeated twice is do your homework.
I’ve never said if Vodafone was a buy or sell, but people do continue to buy at this price.

20 th April 2010 I get a price of £6.55 calculated.
That’s much closer to what I remembered than some of the figures quoted here yesterday.
I though I had sold about then for £6.83 but cannot find anything to back it up.
But £6 was not uncommon ( since there have been several shares splits at higher than that.)

Lloyds is one I keep having a look back at to see if I was too hasty in selling.
Keep expecting it to jump and be at least 60 p .
But don’t need to tell you it’s still not even made 50 p.
But I still think it’s time will come
