RE: 025 Oct 2022 21:42
Frankfurt made a profit and KPE’s share of that was £160,000. That means the event made an even bigger profit. (We currently don’t know what the split for the 02 will be). And as well as the costs for the event, LVCG also recovered £137,000 staff costs. Plus there was the merchandising which returned £350,000.
This was the first event and there would have been higher than future costs setting things up and hammering out the various agreements, which should be slicker (lower) for any future event. Plus as the 1st day sold out, they added a 2nd day, which sold about half full. There would have been additional costs for the 2nd day and while lower, the margins wouldn’t have been as good impacting on the overall profit.
There was no sponsorship, which as explained earlier, with 3 festivals for sponsors to do a deal over and a successful festival under their belt (and I’m sure the social media frenzy will help sell this too) that will add to the profit.
Then there is the streaming, an agreement and company for which is already set up. If this can be better advertised and also tuned to give additional content and move closer to the event that will all add to the profit (and we know the margins are good, and it’s scaleable), plus with a bore limited capacity venue, there will be many more KPOP punters wanting to see this than can get tickets IMO. What we have seen is that the loons are pretty active in spreading the news amoungst themselves.
No question IMO that this event will have better margins and more opportunity to make more profit. Frankfurt proved that there is a market. The O2 will prove that it is repeatable and can be refined. That’s not bad for 12 months from a standing start in anyone’s book.

The event took place on 14 and 15 May 2022 to great acclaim with KPE reporting a profit from the event of £160,000 (£80,000 net share due to LVCG) which, for a first event was positive. In addition to the profit share, LVCG was also able to recover £137,000 of staff costs which was below our expectations although we hope to recover some of the shortfall from future events.
