What’s clear is the LVCG have the rights to the K.FLEX format, IP and trademarks and in particular to use that worldwide. That reflects what lvcg have clearly messaged and have also said is “Completely unfounded we have all the legal documents and trademarks in place.“
Frankfurt 23 is a KPE partnership to deliver the festival, and O2 in Nov 22 is a non SBS partnership to deliver, but the festival being put on in both cases is a K.FLEX concert. Saying that the fans would be “confused” by the partnership delivering the concert is akin to saying they would be confused because the concerts are in different venues. Total nonsense.
Frankfurt 22 showed that the format was successful and has built a brand name as they achieved the minimum revenue guarantee of €350,000 for sales for merchandising. Frankfurt made a profit which was remarkable for new ventures (and despite what some try and portray, I understand in discussions with the company the boundary for assessing that profit excluded the merchandising revenue, which is why the RNS of 1 Jul specifically says about merchandising “and profitability of this part of the KPOP.Flex revenue pool”).
Get the costs down (remember that Frankfurt was extended to a 2nd day which was not full so will have reduced the margins), build the brand more, get streaming closer to the concert, or even live (which we have seen is very lucrative, high margins, low costs and very scaleable), and add in sponsorship (easier with a proven brand and format) , and this has the potential to make significantly more profit. It really is a golden goose and there are many potential buyers (Live Nation, AEG, Expolrado Group and SBS for starters). And anynone that doubts that DC intends to build it up in order to sell it just needs to go back to the statement when the first festival was announced “Furthermore with KPOP.Flex we are building an asset value which in due course could be highly marketable to large event companies. “
