RE: Cape Town23 Nov 2022 07:58
I’ve got no problem with those pointing out negatives, but when the trolls have to resort to lies then you know they have lost the argument. Take the clown on advfn that is claiming that “formula e has never made a profit”, its an actual lie as formula e turned a profit in 2019 #awkward
Not that it makes any difference whether FE makes a profit or not. It’s a growing global phenomena based on sustainability, with a growing worldwide TV audience, and Cape Town, for which LVCG have all the commercial rights, will be one of its go to iconic venues. The track improvements have been paid for by the City of Cape Town, and lvcg get a management fee to host the race as well as earning 10% of the revenue from the partners. Tickets have gone on sale (over £3m revenue) and then there are still sponsorship deals to come and all the activities from the efest, sustainability conference, the golf tournament and the concert.
Combined with the Volvo ocean race with attracted hundreds of thousands of people to the waterfront last time it was held, and its not hard to see how Formula E is going to be a big profit centre for LVCG with its 5 + 5 year contract.
