Share options are awarded by the Board Remuneration Committer.
The CEO cannot award them to himself.
I see these as good news. It's not at all unusual, but it means they both have skin in the game for at least 4 years. You dont exercise share options and then sell them, except for tax purposes, because that would be commercial suicide and would incur the wrath of the institutions.
So I see them as either or both a long term commitment, a belief that the SP will be significantly higher going forward and or the company will be taken over at a premium some time in the future.
So let's see if these guys can finally drive the value out of this company and get material sales...
