Having supposedly sorted it out 3 years ago, here we are again moving to best practice corporate governance.
The standout point that I’ve made before is that, apart from the CEO, EVERYONE should be an INDEPENDENT NED.
Only one isn’t…Mather. By no stretch of the imagination could he be described as independent.
And it won’t escape the notice of the new Chairman that Nick has been stirring.
For starters he is unlikely to have agreed to the Jiangxi sale, because, under the guise of serving us PIs he serves himself and his interests.
And before people start saying things were better under him (they were while we were making ‘shock and awe’ drilling announcements), remember the PFS was delayed for years and Scott came up with a much better, more commercial one, building on the work of Keith Marshall.
Nick was demoted after the major shareholders nearly got him voted off the Board.
Twigger had to go because he hadn’t a clue about proper governance, which had already started the SP rot (Berry Street letter).
Nick was instrumental in the appointment of Cuzubbo who would have bankrupted the company. And he almost certainly supported the disastrous failed cashbox that caused Ingo and Ayten to resign, ultimately leading to the botched takeover by CGP.
Now we have PROPER governance with a Chairman committed to unlocking shareholder value.
Nick has put us at risk through DGR. Time for him to step down.
