@MilkMonsta, Yes it was. With Omicron mutations in the spike, there was suggestion that it was very important to find out if Affidx can detect mutations on the spike. But we already have that information, it's been known from the Delta mutations on the spike. Even though it was very important news at the time, there was discussion taking place only in the last week without realising that it's been covered by Delta. It means that despite Avacta releasing this news, the importance of it wasn't taken on board.

Announcements (we've covered this before) are regulated as they are for any publicly listed company. Avacta are not required to release every piece of news. Avacta isn't struggling with manufacturing, they released information about manufacturing not too long ago. Stating they are struggling is simply not true.

@Profcheese, the market can be disconnected to the importance of news flow. But it does eventually rerate when the penny drops for most investors. We've had news about Affidx being able to detect the Delta variant, which was a very significant, but the importance of which wasn't understood by all until recently. When running clinical trials, the companies will make sure that they have sufficient funds before they commence. *If* there is a fundraise, it will be in the distant future.

In the meantime we have self-testing application by Medusa19, CDTA application and the news that in my opinion in is imminent and early PK data between Q42021 and Q12022.

With the rise of Omicron we are getting mixed messages from various parts of the community. Some politicians and public health experts are pushing for a; do not panic take your booster approach. Top scientists and clinicians heading up the fight against covid are talking of new vaccines and the potential inadequacy of the current vaccines. This can be confusing.

Moderna chief Stephane Bancel predicts that existing vaccines will struggle with Omicron and it could be months before the right variant-specific jab is produced at scale (see excellent article in the FT today). Then there is the obvious issue of distribution, vaccine take-up and finally the time it takes for the immune system to provide sufficient protection post-jab. Although he advocates for waiting for the data, he says that all the scientists that he's spoken to have said "This is not going to be good" [1].

Why then the mixed message? This is based on our understanding that we can provisionally increase antibodies to some extent by taking multiple boosters of current, (potentially mismatched against Omicron), vaccines – this is while we wait for new vaccines to be developed. Hence, we get some defence which can be further strengthened by more boosters and lead to slowing the impact of Omicron. Most likely we will see many Governments around the world pushing for a) an increase in the number of boosters and b) reducing the time between one jab and the next.

This is a multipronged approach – an urgency to get boosters administered, return of masks and use of PCR with potential social distancing and washing hands etc. on the horizon if we receive negative feedback. What this means for Avacta is that exceptionally accurate PoC antigen tests like Affidx will become highly sought after. The current situation will certainly add to the urgency to approve Affidx for self-testing and CDTA and leads me to believe that this news is imminent.

CTDA in my opinion is imminent the UK Gov have taken 3 times longer than their own estimates. I'd expect a higher likelihood either this Thursday/Friday or potentially next. However, with the current news on Omicron I am in no doubt that both applications can get an earlier response and could even be tomorrow morning. We'll have to wait and see, but the doubling of the sp at this point in time looks like weeks rather than months.

@Muller Avacta and FTI won't provide you personally with a statement that they will in the future release information that could make the share price jump "20%". You would have inadvertently been holding on to information that is price sensitive. There is a heavy penalty in such circumstances. The best you could have hoped for is what you got is an acknowledgement with we are taking your views on board. I personally refrain from sending such emails.

Early PK data as we know is positioned for release for Q4 2021 and Q1 2022. That's the news that would validate the pre|Cision platform and expand the pipeline. Looking forward to what should be very interesting weeks ahead.

As far as treatments go (as per the Cochrane report [1]), there is not enough good-quality evidence to judge whether it is an effective or safe treatment for adults with COVID-19. More research is required with emphasis on well-designed studies and robust methods.

The NHS states that: "Vitamin D is particularly important for this group, ["clinically extremely vulnerable"], of people as they may not have got enough vitamin D from sunlight last spring and summer when they were advised to stay indoors (shield)." and "...there have been some reports about vitamin D reducing the risk of coronavirus (COVID-19). But there is currently not enough evidence to support taking vitamin D solely to prevent or treat COVID-19."

This is quite nuanced as what they are actually suggesting is that individuals with low levels of Vitamin D should top up. That's very different to the NHS promoting Vitamin D reducing the risk of Covid.

This is one example of what someone could easily assume is a "treatment" and in doing so would could underplay the severity of the Covid-19 disease and reduce the importance of vaccines, therapies and diagnostics.

Avacta are aptly placed as one of the highest sensitivity and specificity profiles of any lateral flow tests and the advantage of using small molecules like Affimers makes them highly specific to the target. More emphasis needs to be placed on Affidx with a news rich period coming up.

This is fantastic news for #AVCT. The FDA completed its 30-day review of the initial data and came back with an approval. Great to see the Avacta team ahead of the curve and applying by October 2021 (ahead of schedule). Not only is this an endorsement for the trial in the UK, it underlines the importance of the trial for US investors and big Pharma.

We know the #AVCT trial is going well because a) the data submitted for IND has been approved and b) the RNS states that #AVCT "...continues to expect the dose escalation phase for this trial to complete by Q2 2022". These two points are great news and underline the positive nature of the trial so far. This was further emphasised by Alastair Smith:

"This is a major milestone in our development of pre|CISION™ chemotherapies and is testament to the performance of our *clinical* development team and the quality of the *pre-clinical* data for AVA6000." (i.e. both clinical and pre-clinical aspects submitted)

Great work by the Avacta team, and fantastic to be investing in a company that impacts on peoples lives in such a positive way.

100% this was a time for Sajid Javid to be addressing the public and taking decisive action. Instead we have delays, and talks of waiting for weeks before taking further action. The scientists standing next to Boris gave advice to the Gov, but they chose to ignore it.

@RMFatGB I've just read an article mentioning the 61 people (see link). More needs to be done to tackle the variant, the earlier the better. The really scary part are the anti vaccine and mask groups who think this is all fake news. Provisional data suggests that Omicron transmission is high and it can evade host immunity. Time will tell, but this is the time for action by the UK Gov.

Not enough being done by Boris and Co. Although companies like Avacta will be able to help against the new variant, there still needs to be a strong and immediate response by the Gov. to slow down the spread and stay ahead of the curve. This is very worrying.
