I am genuinely sorry for anyone who has lost money, here or elsewhere, however I have less sympathy for those who merely wish to apportion blame... I have yet to see any evidence of wrongdoing by the board of Flybe, but can nevertheless understand people's frustration at such a heavy loss.

eviking - you don't have to 'opt in' to see RNS announcements, only to receive alerts that one has been published.

Rightly or wrongly it's the way of the world that folk usually have to find out for themselves the ins & outs of whatever they get involved in.

You have to set alerts up yourself, but it is usually easy to find & very straightforward to do.

I do however strongly agree that the 'ordinary man in the street' looking to invest should be made aware of this when signing up to a broker.

Agreed BruceJamieson, but 962962 raises a valid point about investor awareness. The information and alerts are out there if folk look but perhaps the system could be improved for example investors could be automatically enrolled for alerts regarding any share they purchase by default with the option to then opt out, instead of the current opt in choice provided by their broker?

962962 - You have to request notifications as they are not mandatory.

I use IG and have previously used HL - both provide this service and it is very straightforward to set up. If it is not available from your own broker then the investigate link is highly recommended...

They were notified by RNS which is the official announcement channel for all listed companies in the UK.

Yes 962962, it is the responsibility of investors to keep abreast of RNS announcements, however it is not necessary to check sites such as LSE as automated email/sms notifications of RNS announcements are widely available either through brokers or independently eg;

It was published on 27/11/18 in accordance with the RNS announcement of the same day (which provided a link).

"On FLYBE website the link for the circular is dated 14th December."

The date shown on the website link is clearly that of the EGM meeting to which it refers, not the date of publication of the circular, which is quoted as "This document is published on 27 November 2018."

In the context of my reply to sage, it is my belief that I had previously 'stated facts' in order to 'suggest' that "all the information to enable them to do this" and therefore consider my use of the specific word "suggested" in this instance to be appropriate.

I do not understand the basis of your unstated argument regarding the use of the word "Copies" as used by Flybe in their RNS announcement. Unless a singular version of the information was physically passed in turn from one shareholder to the next then it stands to reason that each download of the information from the website was an individual 'copy'. I fail to see how this could be an issue.

As for 'trolling', your own contributions (which resort to personal abuse rather than addressing the issues of the debate) could perhaps be seen as definitive in this respect.

Folk have been complaining to their brokers that they were not informed regarding the EGM where the proposal to change the listing was voted on... I have simply suggested that all the information to enable them to do this was published on time in accordance with the RNS.

The RNS of 27th November clearly stated

"Copies of the Circular will be shortly available at https://www.flybe.com/investors"

The information was then published exactly as per the RNS.

"So there it is in black and white, Flybe DID NOT advise shareholders of the proposal."

Was it not published on the company website for all to see?

Flybe are clearly struggling to survive day by day and there is a very real danger that even a slight delay (caused by any attempt to block the deal for example) will result in them going under leaving shareholders with precisely zero.
