He chose not to do so, and to gamble instead on a deep-water drill off the west coast.
That surely implies that he had some doubts as to whether Barryroe was economically deliverable. Otherwise, not even a gambler would have gone with the west-coast drill.
So I wonder what really was or is his view - not that he will ever tell us.

The trades as reported this afternoon make no sense.
There must have been a massive unreported sale about 15.30. Something drove it from 33/34 to sub-32 in a few minutes.

It's the other way around. Price sensitive news has to be announced as soon as known. Directors can't sit on it, or shouldn't anyway. Consequently they can only trade when not aware of imminent news.

We have not seen sustained selling like this for some time. The usual bear raid tends to run out of steam soon after 3pm, but not today - in spite of a few chunky buys.
It looks as though a significant holder has placed a large sell order.
A possible explanation would be if talks with a potential acquirer ran into the sand a few weeks ago, and if the acquirer let it be known he was not coming back. But I don't know.

This is pretty dreadful.
There are three full weeks before the AGM, giving the bear raiders open season.
Time for steady nerves.
