They have been buying in shares for six consecutive trading days, seven if you include today. Last time (March '14) they stopped after six days. It certainly pushes up prices -- up about 10% in a week or so. Presumably it will fall back a bit when the buying stops.

Looks like the buying-in is over for the day - but will they be back tromorrow?

No obvious reason for recent small tick-up. I wonder was Christmas trading a bit above expectations? Seemed to be plenty of advertising anyway.

For those who didn't see last Sunday's Indo, there were 8 full pages full colour supermarket advertising. At a discount, no doubt, but even so ..

Next set of results including Christmas will be the crucial one. If revenue continues to fall back, will be time (or past time) to head for the door.

APN is considering floating its New Zealand assets separately, according to a newspaper story (S. Times?). Just considering, nothing confirmed. Could be just a flyer.

Decent results today from IT, but it's deceptive. Circulation and advertising income down again, but profits up due to a new printing contract. However they say the advertising outlook is improving. Hope they're right, a good christmas would work wonders for everyone. Unfortunately they seem dead set on an online pay wall in new year, which will be a disaster i.m.o.

IMS on 15 Oct last year. Prob should be one in the next week or two. It should reflect improved trading due to the Irish recovery; if not, will be a bad sign.

Last time this was mentioned, price was about 180, hence it seemed rights would have to be pitched around 100, which seemed a dreadful prospect. Now we are already at 100. Rights at 70? I wonder. Longer it's delayed, the worse the outcome i.m.o. I am not a holder here - got out at a small loss - and have resisted temptation to go back in a few times. It's a fine company, basically, but looks like they bet the farm on a loser.
